A buddy of mine were discussin Robbie Krieger's tone (which I find fabulous) and he told me he used a Fender Twin... I tried to get close ish to it with my POD, and it wasn't bright enough, however the Bassman model really did get close to that 'Peace Frog' groove. Then I saw a video of it (The End live at some TV show on google) and it did seem that he was using a Bassman. Does anyone know for sure?

I'm thinking silverface Fender stack - Bandmaster with vertical 2x12 cab or maybe Dual Showman Reverb (Twin in a head) with vertical 2x15 cab. I don't really know, though.

In the upper right of the corner...
Is that a Twin?
And the car's rear =

HEY! The Doors don't have a bassist!

What are the differences between the blackface and silverface twins? Also, if this is a twin, he must have used it only for clean tones, or else busted his ears off!

Jerry Sheff or Doug Lubahn. Doug Lubahn played on the first few Billy Squier solo records!

Keep in mind, I'm not that much of a Doors fan.
I seem to remember Robby used a Maestro Fuzz-Tone for his distortion.
I also seem to remember seeing the big stacks like Rich was mentioning- the tall Fender 2x15 Dual Showman cabs.
I also found this:I don't know why, but for some reason I seemed to think he used Acoustic (brand) amps with (as stated) 2x15 cabs loaded with JBLs

That was their PA system I hear. Accoustic.inc custom made.

Oh, yeah! Golden Boy, your singin' my song. Blue-nivox is where it's at!

My own personal case of this disease, wrought in pine and solder:

He takes his pension in loneliness and alcohol.

PS guess which one is Billy:
Billy and the dude behind him are going for the Adam Sandler look these days!

I saw the new Doors of the 21st Century line up in August in Toronto.... Robbie is using 2 Fender hot rod Deville amps on stage these days.... If that will help any.....? I know the classic sound is what you are after but he sounded the same with these Devilles to me....

Oh I'm not after anyone's sound, I was just curious. Cheers!

You know that old, dead strings were a big part of his tone too, right?

I had no idea!! Damn... makes me feel less guilty of keeping strings for 2 months now! Cheers bro.

I'm pretty sure he only changed them when they'd break.

I got an article that says he mostly used Fender Twins, and SGs with either P90s or 'buckers. I love his tone too, very sweet.
