I am fairly new to teles, Im thinking about buying this ash one, it looks great (the white blonde one) how does it compare to the American ones in terms of quality and tone. I want to buy something that I know I can rely on for tone and quality and that doesn’t require a lot of replacing stock parts.
Thanks Dills
Im sure there are some tele guru's out there?
Do you mean the lite ash tele's?
If you are, check out this thread:
from : localhost//forum/showt... lite ash tele
the 50's teles are pretty good right out of the box. i have one which i have only replaced pickups on and another that got a humbucker in the neck and some new saddles but thats all i have done with them and i am pretty happy with them. never had a part break on them either.
Ther are from the Classic series which are one of the best bangfor the buck Fender guitar being made right now period!
There is a 50's Tele and a 60's Tele...they need brass saddles and new pickups IMO, but that is about all. Keep in mind that they are a vintage style guitar so there is a nice thick finish on the neck and the frets are skinny wire frets and the radius is 7.25 inches but if you can deal with all that go for it! Im actually looking for one myself!
If you have the extra cash the Highway Ones are amazing guitars as well...I love my HW1 Tele!
Thanks Guys,
I dont think they are a lite ash model, they are a 50's classic series made in mexico. But il double check on that.
What is wrong with the 3 style saddles, are they not of good quality/hard to intonate?

the 50's classic is great straight from the factory imo. about the only thing i would do is change the pick ups.

We've probably had the 3 versus 6 tele saddle debate extra mass of the double string saddle improves tone, YMMV. Players do put Wilkinson compensated saddles on their teles to help solve the intonation trade offs you have to make with standard tele's saddles. Don't know if Fender 50's has brass saddles could be former port was refering to stell versus brass saddles, also.
