I just got a new strat today and while i'm loving it so far i have one issue with it. it has a top mounted (non recessed or non floating, whatever term you like) floyd rose and the trem springs (4 needed for the 11-49 strings i use) squeak like mad when you use the bar. it all works fine just has an annoying squeak from the springs. i read about using foam in the neck pocket, and that didn't help at all. i also read about using stretched out cotton balls inside each spring which i'll try next (unless there are other.better ideas). aside from those two ideas, anyone else have any thoughts? should i just get all new springs and hope they don't squeak or is there an easy fix? thanks for any info.

-MikeMaybe a little WD-40?

Dunno, its worth a shot.

I can't fix your prob...but I must say you should feel horrible getting another new guitar and NOT posting pics!

lol i was waiting to finish another one and also get the new pickguard for this one first. then i would post them both at the same time...but i'll take some pics and make a post of this one later.

sooooo...anyone have any other ideas?

I think new springs is the way to go.

I put tissues in the springs on a Floyd Equiped jackson I used to own, I say try that cotton ball thing and see if it gets you anywhere...

then I guess the next step would probably be some new springs.

Rock On

that's normally a sign of overly worn springs. I would just replace them.

thanks for the info guys, i just ordered some new floyd springs for it. i'm honestly not one for 1/2 ass fixes so i'll deal with the squeak for a few days 'til the new springs get here. i don't know who i was kidding, even if i used one of the fixes for it, it would have ate away at me 'til i ordered the new springs...so i figured why not do it now lol.

Should have said something bro, I have quite a few laying around!

it's all good man, thanks though! i wanted to order one of those nifty allen wrench holders for the back of the headstock anyway so i ordered that stuff and some other little things.
