Hey guys, I have heard that Krank amps are BETTER than the JCM2000 Series from Marshall and the Mesa Boogie Rectifyers! They run for about 1500 dollars but I think that Im going to give them a whirl. Tell me if you guys have played these. and where I can try one out. thanks again.

Dimebag signed an endorsement deal with them shortly before he was killed.

I know that...what I want to know is how they play!

They are nice amps. Geargonser did a review on them quite awhile back. As far as being better than a Recto or a Marshall. It just boils down to the sound you are going for. I believe the Krank amps are built as well as the other amps, but as being a better amp. That's in the eye of the beholder. If you like heavy NU metal, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Shadows fall uses them.. they sound in between a recto and a 5150

Actually there are rumblings that Dime actually owned/purchased part of the company. Alot of bands are endorsing them now. I have heard clips and seen videos. Nothing has impressed me so far. I guess you have to quot;be therequot; and try 'em to be sure....

Didn't they post thier own reviews on Harmony Central to try and boost sales? I could never buy from a company with ethics like that, no matter how good thier stuff is.

seriously, though, I got one. It kicks. Calling it a NU-metal amp is a gross understatement of its abilities. While the revolution 1 is an amp that can be used for NU-metal (basically anything with a boss metal-zone in front of it could become a NU-metal amp, the prerequisites on what makes a good NU-metal tone arent very strict IMHO), it goes way beyond that.

I should also point out that I'm no fan of NU-metal. eh.

Though quot;the best tonequot; is entirely subjective depending on the person, here's my reasons why I like my krank over the jcm2000 and rectifier.

Both the jcm and rectifier are great amps, and they have certain qualities that are increadable, and certain qualities that seem flawed. The marshall, for instance, gets a great midrange crunch to it, but in the higher gain settings it can get a little fuzzy.

As for the rectifier, I'm not a fan of the fixed bias circut. W/O a variable resistor (pot) mod in the bias circut, its a little difficult to get a good clean tone. Beyond that...they tend to sound a little too compressed and a little too bass-heavy. To my ears, at least. I know a few players that have gotten great tone out of rectifiers.

Now, the Krank. To me, this amp seems to take the best qualities of both the rectifier and the jcm2000, and puts em together. Plus a great (and i mean GREAT) clean channel. It can do rectifier, vintage marshall, single coils or humbuckers, high or low gain, its simply a great all-around sounding amp.

I use it to play a hard rock/progressive metal breed of music though a mesa traditonal-sized 4X12. Honestly, if you ever get the chance, CHECK ONE OUT. Its an amp that can pretty much do almost anything.

Just one note though, the sovtek 5881's they supply em with seem to give the amp a little too much bite, and kinda sterilize the sound. Load it up with a good set of 6l6's and it's ready to rock.

I'd go for that whole line of thought, except that to me it seems fairly idealistic. (no offense intended at all)

I mean...look at magazine's like guitar one and guitar world. I have yet to see a piece of gear go through there, no matter how expensive or cheap, that has been given a bad review.

Why? Because the majority of the money they make is from advertisments. and fender/gibson/marshall/line 6/whoever wouldnt be too happy if they started bad-mouthing their equipment. It keeps a good business relationship between the companies.

Beyond that, we all know how accurate reviews are on harmony central. Somthing I actually noticed one day was on the dimarzio review page, how as I started reading though starting from the lowest output pickup to the highest, how the grammar steadily started getting worse and the words f***, S***, a**, b****, (im only censoring myself cause I'm fairly new to the board and dont know all the rules yet...) ect, started appearing more and more. Useless fact of the day provided by Dan Lindley.

Some reviews are bound to be planted. Most of the reviews are from people who havent given their gear a good test-out. Some are simply from idiots. Though I'm not saying i endorse this method of advertising, As it is an unfair business pratice for the consumer. But, what I AM saying is that its bound to happen. It's not like they're using baby seal guts in the transformers .

I'd be happy to, but it might take a little while (my amp's over at my drummer's house) . heh, just stating to get the hang of these emoticons.

I'll bring over my tape recorder and mic my cab with my SM-57 the next time i get a chance, and post em here. I might actually go and do that tonight, cause i've gotta take pictures of another cab i have that im gonna be selling.

I might be pedantic but pretty much every amp out there that's not cathode biased is quot;fixed biasquot;. Confusing as it may seem, quot;fixedquot; does not refer to whether the bias is adjustable but how it varies (in this case, not at all) with respect to the signal. I'd suggest quot;non-adjustablequot; as an alternative to quot;fixedquot; in this context.

Not really , they just put the empty head chassis and cabniets out front and could have any amp backstage runing into a miked cab or the krank cabs.
