I have this MIJ strat that is making me a bit depressed. This guitar feels great, and sounds great unplugged. It is alder bodies and maple neck.
The current config is....

N: Fender Texas hot
M: Fender Texas hot
B: SD JB Jr.

Okay here's the deal.. first and formost I hate the JB JR bridge....I just don't care for the biteyness of this pup. Plus it doesn't split well so I'm also losing the B M position.
Both the neck and mid sound anemic.. very thin and too bitey for my tastes.

I use mostly clean tones and mostly N amp; N M positions, but I also want a nice pickup in the bridge... I'm really unimpressed with the Mini HB's so i was thinking of routing for a full sized HB and go with a HSS

My thoughts, I like a warmer sound in general so I was thinking APS2 for both neck and mid .... so... what bridge will work well?
I'm thinking of a CC as I would like to be able to split it for a good B M sound and maintain the noise cancelling.

My other thought is a complete set of APS2's just have my strat be a strat.

So what should I go with......
Opt 1 - APS2, APS2 CC
Opt 2 - APS2, APS2, APS2
Opt 3 - Wait for the new noiseless pup's

Opt 4 - ????????????
Thanks guys/gals/whatever, I promise this will be the absolutely last time i ask PUP questions about my bastardized strat.
Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to grasp what you're looking for, because you have some pretty good pickups already. Maybe look at the SD tonechart and see which direction you can go tonally. If the APS2's are too brittle, maybe you just don't like single coils? I think you do need a humbucker in the bridge, since it sounds like you're leaning that direction anyway.

Another think to consider is, maybe you just don't need that guitar anymore. Maybe you're forcing yourself to like something that just isn't you. There's always the option of just selling it all separately, then going shopping for a guitar that really impresses you.

Thanks GJ, actually I don't have APS2's in there yet.... thats just one option i'm thinking about. I currently have some Fender Texas PUP's in there with a JBjr..
I think the APS2's may just fit the bill.
As for not being into the SC's..... I dunno, maybe you're right in a way... I do like that warmer tone... however.... When i think of great electric guitar tone, I keep coming back to SRV, Gilmour, Hendrix, Knoffler, etc....
I love that squack... I am just not getting it now...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Damn,
I gotta stop posting at 2 am .... My last post was completely incoherant!!!

Any other opinions on what I should do with my strat?
