I just bought a complete set of Dimarzio YJMs/ HS3s to replace the SD APS-1s for noise purposes. According to Fender`s site, Yngwie wires his hot wires to his 5 way switch, but the way this strat is wired, the hots are soldered to the volume pot. Is that right? the hot leads soldered to the 5 way switch? When I had my YJM strats, I never had to look inside at the guts, so Im lost.
On my strat I've got the hots soldered to the switch as well, I've never seen them (the hots) soldered to the pot, are you sure the color codes aren't different?
Luke
You mean they're soldered to the pot shell?
It must be the negative then.
The positive is usually wired to the switch. It is to my highway 1.
Just track the path that the electricity goes after it enters the guitar through the hot of the input jack. Most likely gonna go through the volume pot first. Then from volume pot lug to the master lug of the switch. Then through the pickups to negative.
On Strats, the pickup's hot wires always go to the switch. That is how it has to go when using 1 volume control.
Thanks guys.
