What are the differences between the two Strat pickups? They are both A2 and seem to be about the same output.
there is the aging, there is some kind of difference with the wire (MJ can explain) the magnets in Antiquitys are slightly larger (around)), cloth wire on the Ants,
the antiqutiys are more complex sounding, richer and a little smoother. the aps have a nice rasp to the high end
The Antiquities have quot;MOJOquot; and are great sounding pickups....The APS2s are really good pickups by comparison...Complex tone pretty much explains it also...
I agree with what the others have said. The Ant Texas Hots really do have a certain mojo and vibe. They have a more complex and textured tone and more dimension. The APS pickups are excellant but they are just a little flatter and more one dimensional sounding than the Texas Hots. The APS pickups have a thickness to the mids that doesn't give them quite as much breath as the Texas Hots. The Texas Hots have that thick quality to the mids too, but somehow there's a little more sense of space with the Texas Hots. Mojo and Vibe...the Texas Hots have that in spades as do all of the Antiquitys I've owned. Lew
