i think you hold the slider thing to open position, and then put in the combo you want. dont take my word for it though, mine is back at home

I've still got the red tab in both of mine! I never understood the reason for a lock. If someone wants to steal your guitar that lock would not make a bit of difference.

That's what you do. You hold it all the way to the left (open position) and put in the numbers you want as it's held in that position.
