I like the Fender CS Nocasters in the bridge...1 is the earlier 10k version of it....I have a Tele Texas Special in the neck of one and a 52 Reissue neck pickup in the other..I need to try Duncans, but I do like the fender pickups...
So, does this mean that there is a forum moniker change coming in your future?
Teles rock! For me, they sit perfectly between a Les Paul and a Strat. A do anything guitar. I don't own one currently, but I really should.

Nope....The strat is still king....Just giving them a needed break...
i might want to grab a HWY 1 tele body and make one this summer.....I need 500 bucks!
I'm also going to have to blow 90 bucks in order to get my other D130F reconed, so i need 590 bucks!
What teles you got john? Fill us in about your twang arsenal!

And refreshing to chat a little about Tele's. I've played a few but never owned one, but they are a cool rock'n axe for sure. Would love to have one some day when $$ allows.
Anyone have any favorite models they like based on type of music they play with 'em? I'd be curious to know if there are certain advantages, sound or construction wise, to going after certain year Tele's.
rock on

They're annoyingly addictive, aren't they? I can come home after an evening of playing the Les Paul all night, not really wanting to play anymore, and I'll pick up the Bastardcaster and play for another 2 hours. I have a love / hate relationship with mine, but it goes to every show.
Nice looking Tele's, John! I'll take that maple-necked one in a right-hand model. Are both of those American models? Have you played very many MIM models and could offer an opinion on MIM v. MIA?

Damn it John, you're giving me Tele G.A.S.!

Hello Bobby....
The maple necked Tele is a 94 AS Tele...Got this from E Bay..
The rosewood necked one is a MIJ 62 Tele Custom with the body binding that I got from Southworth Guitars in MD....These MIJ fender guitars are excellent guitars!
Both are great, but I like the rosewood Tele better...I've not played a lefty MIM Tele though?

Jeff...Come on back over my house and I'll let you do some upside down Albert King licks on em both..
Cool guitars John.......................... I have a California Tele, which has a Strat Neck and a Tele Bridge. They are stock Tex Mex PUPS. Rosewood board. I like this guitar. I also have a MIJ 52 RI. I am planning on putting in a Vintage 54 neck and Jerry D Bridge. I have ordered them, but have not recieved them yet! Real nice guitars.

I totaly agree with you about Japanese Fenders. I love my MIJ 60 RI Strat, and haven't heard too many bad things if any about MIJ axes.

1 on the MIJ Fenders... I've got a 1996 Lefty Jazzmaster (Basswood) that has unbelievable sustain for such a light guitar!
Teles are my favorite guitars. I now own 5 American Series Teles in various guises:
1. Natural ash/maple fb with Antiquity I flatpole lead and SM-3n neck mini-HB
2. White Blonde ash/ rosewood fb with SD Jerry Donahue lead and Phat Cat neck
3. Butterscotch blonde/maple fb limited edition with Fender CS Nocaster set
4. Sunburst alder/rosewood fb with Antiquity I flatpole set
5. Pewter alder/rosewood fb HS Tele with stock Atomic II HB neck and STL-2 Hot lead.
I guess I'm your alter ego, John -- a right handed Tele player who occasionally plays a California Series Strat and a Texas Special Strat.
My first real guitar was a Tele. I still have it. The thing is just an all-out tone monster! I can plug it into any amp I own and instantly it makes me wonder why i play or own anything else on my wall.
I have a blast showing up for gigs with JUST that guitar. It can be a challenge to get sounds I need for a whole night but I know they're in there and the hurdle is me and my playing, not the guitar.
