Just curious what you guys think the best bluesy amp of all time is?? All brands, all models welcome....

'59 Bassman

Fender Blues Deluxe

Traynor YCV 40

Marshall Bluesbreaker Combo Reissue

Mesa Boogie Subway Rocket or 50 Calibre

Matchless Chieftan

any number of hand-crafted botique amps based on Fender circuits might be good bets

For me? I'm thinking a Bruno Leadman (supposedly the closest clone of a Dumble around).

When I think blues, I automatically think of Robben Ford and man, I think his tone just kicks!

I'm really torn on this one but I'd have to go with these choices:

Fender Deluxe Reverb the classic sound in my mind, scrappy gravelly soulful.

Fender (or Victoria) Tweed (pick one, any one will do) Thicker richer and more overdrive to spare

Dr. Z. Pick one. These are completely different animals but are finding lots of homes in the blues community. Buddy Whitington has become a hardcore Z user.

Luke

Some kind of Fender.

Deluxe or Deluxe Reverb.

Vibrolux Reverb if you want to play louder and/or cleaner.

Or Super Reverb if you want to play louder and/or cleaner still.

Or Twin Reverb if you want to play even louider and/or cleaner.

There is no ultimate Blues Amp though. Everyone likes something differant.

Mesa Boogie Lone Star 1x12 combo !

If you don't need high volume I would say a Deluxe Reverb or for more volume a Vibrolux

Tweed Bassman.

I just got my '63-'64 BF/blonde Tremolux back from the shop and it sounds amazing -- the fattest BF amp I've ever heard! My other top choices for blues would be something in tweed (my late '50s Gibsons work very well for the quot;tweed needquot;), and something Voxy -- my Orange AD15 comes close, but a Bad Cat Cub II I played the other day may be next on my list.

Lots of choices for lots of voices out there.

BBKing has made some nice blues with his 70's era LabSeries amps ... solid state no less

its all in the fingers and in the path traveled

Amen

My favorites are
All Fender Tweeds or P to P Blackfaces.
Blues Pearl
Victoria
Dr. Z
Matchless Chieftain or Bluesbreaker for British Blues tone.

I realize the Blues wasn't founded on expensive amps, but you DID ask our opinions on the quot;Ultimate Blues Amps.quot;

Dr.Z, i am gassing for one of these SOOOO BAD, i can't contain it, and i have nowheres near enough money

I'd go for pretty much any pre-blackface fender. I'm a big fan of the Marshall bluesbreaker, as well. Also the Mesa Blue Angel on the 6v6 setting.
