How hard is it to play a guitar with no inlays other than the 12th fret? im thinking aobut buying one with just the 12th, and theres nowhere near me where i can play on out. whats itl ike?
If you can close your eyes and still play songs then inlays are for decoration only.
Most guitars with no inlays have side markers which are generally in-view more than inlays anyway.
I'm guessing you're talking about that Schecter? Those guitars will have the markers on the side, so don't worry.

My thoughts exactly!!!! You only need side dots bro!!!!
Yeah, no problems at all with just side dots!
you really shouldnt be bending over to see the face of the neck anyway...i have no inlays on my adamas acoustic, and i thought i would be lost, but the side dots are there and all is well.
My Gothic SG just has the cresent moon inlay on the 12th fret, but still has dots on the side for reference in case I get lost.....
correct me if im wrong but don't most classical guitars have no fretboard inlays? I personally prefer playing with inlays, im weak like that haha Ive tried it no fret markers and i was ok but i kept on second guesing myself if i was on the right notes or not. Like i said im weak.
My acoustic is reverse, it has an elaborate inlay on the fingerboard and no sidedots. After a while I learned where everything is by the inlay. I got it better than my friend who got a classical and one side dot is on the 11th fret rather than the 12th.
Besides my acoustic I think inlays can get tacky looking at a point. Look at the Fender Showmaster Elites, if those didnt have those inlays (and pref a strat headstock) it'd be my perfect guitar.

Not only do they not have inlays, most of them do not have side dots. None of my classical guitars have either.
I think it can be too busy when there's inlays going all the way up the neck. I'm a fan of inlays only at the 12th fret, and with side dots... glow in the dark or cubic zirconia dots!! My Ibanez SZ520 has just a flame inlay spanning from the 11th to the 13th fret. I think it looks cool.

Dude, you read my mind, i think the 12th only inlay makes a guitar more sexy.
Now an inlay-less with low-output LEDs for side markers...those would be sweeeeeeet....
most still have the markers on the side of the fretboard, and even if it doesnt its not that hard at all
coming from a classical, I had no problems at all with no inlays. In fact, I preffer the look (especially with a nice ebony board).

lol...as for me, coming from the real classical background, I'm used to fretless fingerboards, but that'd be freaking weird on the guitar haha.
I seem to only ever look at the side markers myself.... I've been playing for years and most of the time i can move my hands around the neck without looking
