ok, MikeS mentioned using double cream pickups in my new les paul and i was pretty set on zebras. so i did these mock ups of double cream vs zebra and now i'm torn again.
so for the last time, what do you guys think?
or one of the above with no guard...
thanks!
-Mike
Ok, since you've eliminated the chrome and seeing these two choices side by side, double cream. It just looks right.
EDIT: Keep the guard.
I still say Double creme bridge, Zebra neck (try that mockup..see whatcha think..or maybe you did?)
But me no likey 2 zebras...so def 2 cremes
AND DEF KEEP THE PG!
i also added a mock up with no guard.
Jeff, i tried it and it's not bad but if i go with a mismatch i'd do a chrome neck and double cream or zebra bridge.now i think i'm leaning double cream lol.

heh... thats how my 92 ebony standard was (identical to yours, but mine had tophats, IIRC)...I had a double creme Super D in it for awhile with the nickel 490R. Then went double black Custom/59...ugly as sin now i think i'm leaning double cream lol.
wise man. run with it
if u put it that way, double cream with guard.
btw mike, did u know there is a special place in hell for those showing off cool new axes on an almost weekly basis?
lol pac...then i'm in trouble. i have this in the mail, a gibson sg-x in the mail, and 3 charvel clones lol.
-Mike
sweet! i wanna see what u're gonna do with the sg-x. those are no longer in production rite?
WTF????? Did you find an oil well or something? Win the lottery? Got a cushy job? I've never seen someone buy so many guitars. Yeah, you do sell some off but sheesh, you keep most of 'em.
pac: yeah the sg-x are out of production and i scored a used one on good ol' ebay. it's all black and chrome now with no guard but i have a cool plan for it.
Erik: LOL...nope, no oil, just doing fairly well with my freelance work and getting good deals (that makes it hard to pass on things). plus since i stopped modifying my cars (got them to the point i want them) all my spare cash has gone to guitars and gear. plus, i still live at home LOL. see it pays not to run out of the house real fast....no rent to pay lol. also i do sell off a fair amount of gear which in turn lets me buy new stuff.
-Mike
Double cream, lest you want me to call you a copy cat.
Both look sharp Mike. I think since you've already got cream appointments everywhere else that you should stick to double cream, though. And for God's sake, keep the pickguard.

Yes..if you won't listen to us old farts..follow the advice above from someone your own age
i am thinking of keeping the guard...IF...i can find a guard that actually matches the pickups and rings shade of cream. gibson has been using this crappy shade of cream that is sort of pink in color that doesn't match anything...even the stock rings (just look at the pic) so, if i can have my luthier make me a guard that actually fits (most aftermarket don't) and actually matches the shade of cream (most aftermarket don't) i'll keep the guard.
-Mike
Double with guard, zebra without the guard.
Definitely Zebra with guard.
The double cream is too much... don't go that way!
sorry darkshadow.
double cream it is, just placed an order for them!
thanks for the input guys!
-Mike
Double Cream WITHOUT the bloody gaurd... Personally I hate gaurds on les pauls they make me sick.

You need to get out on your own before your mom kicks or @ss out...lol.
Im gonna throw the curve ball...leave the guard (ALWAYS LEAVE THE GUARD) and go with reverse Zebras!
not a bad idea but i already decided on double creams and ordered them.
i did take your advice combined with my own ideas for the SG-X though
