I just installed a Jazz/JB combo in my Schecter. I followed the diagram online, but I am still getting A/C hum. I know it's probably a grounding issue, but I can't figure it out. The only thing I haven't done yet is insulate the Red and White wires, but I don't know why this would affect the hum.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Nobody knows? Could I have reversed the polarity?
A few questions.
1) When you touch the strings or a metal part of the guitar, does the hum get less, more or stay the same?
2) is the guitar an American built Schecter or a Korean import Schecter?
3) Is the noise a low frequency hum or a buzz?
4) is the noise apparent on both pickups or just one?
Things to check:
Make sure that you have connected the screen wire (the bare wire) from the pickup cable to the nearest pot casing.
Check that there is a link between all pot casings and the earth tag of the output jack.
Check that the bridge earth link is intact.
Check that the switch frame, if you have one is earthed.
It's most likely a screening issue; the answers you give me will tell me whether it is or not.
