Where can I find some low impedence guitar pickups?

I was reading about les paul and it said he was using low impedece guitar pickups and going direct to board with them. I was thinking about experimenting with somthing similar.

basically i want a pickup that will give me a crystal clean clear sound for going straight in for recording and something that is fairly flat.

Maybe an active pup with no battery?

Very interested in what you find out- Actually talked to Les about this a long while back when he was playing at Fat Tuesdays everyweek- He was mainly after the low noise and the full tone spectrum, but wasn't overly impressed with Gibson's attempt to make this LP (think it was the LP recording?)

Sidebar, I knew he didn't endorese the SG, but having a 61LP/SG I had to ask- His main complaint was the weight/lack of sustain and considering his sound he said it wasn't as much a critisisim as a personl preference-

BTW it'sd been a long time but he was playing a modifed LP with low imp pups-

that is where i got the idea for the quot;les paul recordingquot; guitar.

i like the sound of my pickups going direct but its pretty noise and it hums a lot.

my plan is to go 1 normal pickup-amp-mic-recorder

1 low z pup-recorder.

maybe some effect inbetween each pup... but first things first... i need to find a pickup.

back to my original question.

an active pup can not be hear very well through an amp with out a battery and they are very low noise.

If I installed one in a guitar with out the battery could I achieve what I am wanting to do?

I plan on placing the xlr end on it too.

Ive run my normal pups straight in they sounded good but were very noisy even the buckers. i was thinking about using the active with no battery because it would be low noise and quiet and then i could trick the mixer into thinking it was a microphone and letting the mixer do the work.

think it will work?
i dont want to invest and come to find out it wont.
