On a QP tele neck pup is it white or black? the schetic shows it as white but I cant get any sound out of it?

thanks,

Black!

It won#8217;t be a wiring problem because even if you switch the wires you#8217;ll still get sound.

And I thought all SD single coils used black for ground (after all, black is basically the universal color for ground wires).

I agree. My Jerry Donahue uses black for ground.

Well I went back and did some trouble shooting. I just twisted the wires together and attached the pup to just an out jack. Then I hooked the guitar up to the computer so I could see if I got any spikes in my recording program. I tapped on the hotside of the out jack with a screwdriver and I got some spikes. I tapped where I connected the pup and the wire together and I got a spike. Then I tapped on the pup with a screwdriver and I got no spike. So I took it out of the body and I noticed that just 1 of the little copper wires on the pup was broken and hanging out of the pup. Could this be a reason that I am getting no sound for the pup?

Explain what you mean by #8220;I just twisted the wires together and attached the pup to just an out jack.#8221; I#8217;m not following.

Best thing to do would be to put it on a multi-meter and see what it reads. That would confirm whether or not the windings on the pup are broken. If you#8217;re seeing the ends of copper wire, though, that#8217;s generally not a good sign. Depending on where the winding is broken, I think it can be fixed.
