I programmed the drums and bass on the Dr-880. Then I played the rhythm and solo guitar on top. I wish I had more time to polish it up....but this is just some sunday fun. Any good? from : localhost/used an Tom Anderson Classic for the leads and a Fender Telecaster with Kinman pickups for rhythm. The amp sim is from the Boss Dr-880.
Gotta run.....

Really great music. This track will stay for some weeks in my playlist.
Great stuff!!! I was looking at the 880 Saturday at GC. When you do drums and bass together do they end up on the same track?? I am using a very simple recording system (Guitar Tracks Pro 2) and I can only record one track at a time (I think ) I guess it may not be too big of an deal but I was worried about it. How do you like the 880 overall? It is an expensive machine and I am wondering if I need all of the features.

Regarding individual outputs: that's a good question. At the moment I just use the stereo Master output for everything. However, the device has 2 quot;individualquot; outputs which can be assigned to single instruments. I haven't tried it yet but I will.
You can download the manual form the Roland US site which might be usefull.
I've had it for a week and I like it. After reading the manual, I understood the logic of it and I am making my own tracks. The sound quality is good and the preset patterns are very good. It also allows you to either create your own patterns or modify the exisitng ones. Very nice.
it takes longer to create a song than in say, Band in a Box, but I think the results are worth it.
I bought for:
1) practising: it plays immediately, I have a laptop which I use for work as well. Also, I find that PCs sometimes quot;hickupquot; and go out of time, due to their pc-like nature.
2) practising time and rhythm playing: since I am not playing with a band anymore, I wanted to practise rhythm guitar playing and generally my timing. This is much more fun than a metronome.
3) recording It's like having a trio which is always plays quot;on timequot; and you dont' have to worry whether you are going to hurting your band-mates feelings....
thanks

thanks for supplying my 'marin' fix .... sounds like your rhythm chops (and tone) are as solid as ever, sir ... some of the lead phrases were rhythmically 'challenging' to the listener, but always in an engaging way (certainly avoided the 'smooth' wasteland) ... but most of them were just spot on .. and the tone, as always, was impeccable
more - more - more
cheers

As always, very cool stuff!!
A very cool thing Marin.
Loved the feel of this one...hmm maybe I should get one of those.
And what a sound
I love the tune man!!! Thats residing in my playlist for quite a while as well;
Dr. 880 has an amazing sound, some tasty freakin' leads man!

T4D, do you work in marketing, by any chance?
thanks
Marin
Thanks Butch, Guitartesta and Rid!
I've posted the backing at the top of the thread:SCROLL UP TO THE TOP!

LMAO
nah, not marketing ... but diplomacy is a big part of being a project manager and superviser and parent and husband ...
i always love your tone and playing, bro ... i didnt want to just fawn with accolades, so when i hear your work, it makes me want to consider exactly what the experience sounded and felt like to me ... music that engages me that way is always my fave ... my coworkers put on 'smooth jazz' here in the office and while it is pleasant and always free of 'edge', i find myself not paying attention to it for more than a verse and a chorus ... when music, like yours, creates tension and release, i stay engaged more deeply the entire way through ... it's much more alive to me ... i find my mind saying quot;where the hell is he going with THIS line?quot; .. and then a few seconds later quot;oh sweet!, didnt know HOW the hell he was gonna get himself outta THAT .. quot; as opposed to when i play and i am saying to myself quot;how the hell did i get myself into THIS mess?quot; and quot; how can i get back to the 1 without killing myself ?quot; and quot;which minor pentatonic could i save my sorry a$$ with here ?quot; and quot;i should take up knittingquot;cheers,

No offence perceived at all.... I was simply impressed with you pragmatical, courteous and diplomatic eloquence.
I mean....I DO KNOW THAT I SLOP SOME OF THOSE NOTES!
After all, most of us are amateurs here, some with jobs, some with kids, some with very little free time....the important thing is express oneself to a certain degree and have fun.
The good thing about this board is that the people are generally cool and percieve it the same way.
Thanks for your comments. I share your quest for quot;edgequot;, which I define in a more blunt way as quot;music with ballsquot;.
