does anyone know why fender doent have a richards sig of quot;micawberquot;, because thats one of the greatest guitars there is in my opinion.
Undoubtedly because Keith hasn't authorized it. I'm sure Fender would metaphorically cut off an arm to have a Keith Richards signature model, and a Bruce Springsteen one as well. Many artists are reluctant to do deals like that, which is essentially an endorsement. I'm a little surprised about Keith, as the Stones basically will sell anything (including their songs to Microsoft, etc.). I guess they need the money.
Years ago Fender came out with a dark Tele that had humbuckers and Gibson style controls-I have heard of that piece being referred to as the Keith Richards guitar. Why i don't know,I can't recall ever seeing him, play one.
But there's the myth for ya.

Keef did play a black, maple necked Tele custom with gibson style controls and a fender humbucker at the neck back in the mid 70s. He got turned onto the guitar by Leo Nocentelli, who used one with The Meters while they supported the Stones in the US.

-by the way, this was a stock model.
Mike Rocker is probably right. If you think about it, several Fender models ARE Keith Richards and Bruce Springsteen models.....even without having their names on the headstock. They're so big, they don't even need to lower themselves to the level of other signature artists. LOL
I've seen his signature teleish guitar on EPS website few years ago.
I've kinda wondered this same thing before.
But really I don't care. I mean Keith is deffinately In my top 5 fav. Guitars of all time list (based solely on image though, certainly not on chops). But Even if they made a Keith signiture model I'de never buy it.
I would never buy a signature guitar, for any reason. Why would I want a guitar with sumone else' name on it?
ed.
p.s. I know sumones gonna say quot;well what about les paulsquot;. And before ya have the Chance. I would never own a les paul either. Mainly cause I hate them, and think they tend to sound and play lame, and feel like they're built baddly. But them being a quot;signaturequot; model just adds to my hatred of them. (thats not to say if you love Lps that I hate you, or am saying bad things about you. Everyones different.)

...and Keith does not need the exposure or the money.

I think you're getting him mixed up with Ron Wood, who had an ESP Tele-ish signature model at one point. They do kind of look the same.

I am sure a Keith model would sell $hitloads!

I bet it's Mr. Jagger running out there selling their music to Microcrap. I would like to believe that Keith wanted nothing to do with it... and being that nobody can understand what Keith says anymore means that he can't admit he had any part in it and I can die a bit happier now
