What do these go for nowadays? My Mesa ext. cab is just too damn dark.

Last time I was shopping for them at GC, they were running 750-800, depending on which salesman you talked to.
I've seen one for $1000 here, but remember this is Canada

Yes here in Canada they run $999 at most shops... I want one....
$1000cnd? holy crap! i baught mine for $400cnd and its a JCM800 straight 412 cab. I've also seen a whole bunch being sold around the Toronto/Burlington/hamilton area for around $450 to $500cnd, which is what they sell for these days.
I believe they sell for around $400/$425usd used in the US. Atleast those are the prices I see when people are selling their 1960a cab.Cheers
i think mine was in the $700 ballpark, bought it new at GC about two years ago.
I just got a JCM900 series 1960A cab with G12T75s for $415 after shipping off ebay. Thats low though... expect to pay 500 or so.
Here's a 1960 with a $400 BIN.

Depends on the speakers? The STD cab loaded with G12- 75s is cheaper than the V30 or the Greenback cabs...My Vintage 30 4x12 was like $850 a number of years ago here in the states and the standard cab was around $600...
The speakers dictate the price of the cabinet...
You can get one 2nd hand for around 400 -500. I see them go in this price range all the time.
If you can get a JCM800 cab, they have a mono input jack and sound just a little better than the 900 IMHO.
Also something to think about: replace the particle board back plate and replace it with a solid birch (well multiplex that is) one, then isolate the inner side and back with foam.
This will increase the low end response and makes it sound more articulate, tight and defined without getting dark.
Once I was done with mine I couldn't believe how much better it sounded!

In fact i'm waiting to snag a cheap one for my beat up 800 head..... I missed buying a rough 80's 800 series 4x12 for $350 a few years ago..... But if you want a new 1960 cab most stores charge $999 Canadian... I would never use a 4x12 that much so a cheap used one is in the game plan for me.. hoping i can find one with good speakers...
