Just converted my S-S-S Mexican Strat Into an H-S-S.
SH-8 Invader in the bridge, Stock Middle and Neck.
The Schematics on the website suggest 250k Pots, but most other guitars with humbuckers use 500k pots..
Can i use a 500k for volume and a 250k for tone???

Which ones should i use?? how would it affect my tone??

Thanks

With the Invader I'd think you will want a 500k volume pot and use 250k tone pots. You could also re-wire your switch and change your pot wiring so that the Invader has a 500k volume pot and the mid and neck singles share a 250k volume pot and a common 250k tone pot. Whether you wire the Invader to the tone pot is up to you, it is possible both ways.

Try a 500k volume pot and keep the tone pots stock for now. If the singles are too bright with a 500k volume pot you can consider re-wiring the guitar like I stated above or you can even use small value caps to take some of the top off of the singles.

Hopefully a single 500k volume pot does the trick.

first of all, thanks
but is there any way that you can email me a wiring diagram for the wiring that you stated??(so that the Invader has a 500k volume pot and the mid and neck singles share a 250k volume pot and a common 250k tone pot.) my email is pimpdadi87@comcast.net
thanks again

best to put that in a PM (for future reference).

Your lucky this site is clean and had no trolls and stuff.

Let me see if I can get Artie on this one.

Mr. Artie, I need a schematic for a Strat with a HB wired to one side of the 5 way and the singles wired to the other with seperate outputs.

The bridge side connected to a 500k pot and the singles side connected to a 250k volume/250k tone.

There are two options at this point. Either run the outputs of the volume pots off of the #2 terminals directly to the jack making both volume pots MV, or wire the pickups to the #2 terminals and the output from #3 to the jack. This way will allow for independent control of the HB and the singles.

I think I like option 2 better but see what you can do bro.

Thanks Artie,

Robert

I'll see what I can come up with as soon as I get home from work.

Artie

I just remembered that I did something like this just last week. Keep in mind, this is only one of several ways to do this. I like this technique because it isolates the two volume pots in all positions except the middle/bridge notch position:See if this will do what you want. If not, I can post other options.

Artie

Edit: Also, while that shows 3 singles, the concept is the same.
