Can anyone tell me the differences and similarities of between the Peavey XXX 2x12 combo, and the Peavey 6505/5150 2x12 combo? Sound wise? Which is better at heavey, Lamb of God type stuff? Which is more versatile and can handle bluesy and jazz type stuff as well as metal?

Oh...and most importantly, how much would one of these bad boys cost me used on Ebay? lol

The XXX 212 combo can do jazz and blues very well i think.. i played a demo model at a store a week ago. I didnt have the option to play the ultra chan for obvious reasons altough by listening to the crunch i can tell it would have been awesome. They had the price tag around $750, which blew me away. Still havent played a 5150.

Used you'll probably be looking at 5150/II, you should also add in the JSX 2x12 in the hunt if it is available yet.

I felt the XXX was a bit more versatile and I liked the tones better but the 5150s are what made me look at the Peaveys in the first place. The cleans are not spectacular on either amp but with single coils I think the XXX again has the edge, humbuckers it was pretty even to me.

Shipping one will be a bear, they are 90lb combos and likely to suffer in transit and it won't be cheap to ship. I would expect to pay $650-750 used for a good one of either maybe a little less if you are patient. I might be interested in moving my XXX combo since I'd like to get a head version, let me know where in NY you are maybe we can work something out.
