Ok people, I've done a lot of research into this, and I'm half way through converting my 3 single coil squier strat into a 1 Humbucker (SH-8 Invader), 1 Volume Pot thing.

For the record, I'm not a blink182 fan in any way, shape or form. But I've got my heart set on this setup, despite the discovery that it's identical Tom Delonge's. No offence to any blink182 fans!

First Question: Basically, is it likely to sound ok? I have no idea what the wood is, but it's a fairly good quality Squier, and it's luckily pre-routed to handle humbuckers. I've only used stock pickups before, but I'm aiming to make a heavy metal monster of a guitar here. I would like it to give me something along the lines of a Master of Puppets / Dimebag Darrell / Anthrax sound. Will the Invader pump up my previously sucky sounding squier?

Second Question: Will a 500k volume pot be sufficient? From what I've heard, this is one of the hottest output pickups you can get. So, is 500k enough, or should I be aiming for the slightly higher ones, or even 1meg?

Third Question: As a disciple of Van Halen, I believe in quot;keeping it simplequot;, so I'm opting for just a volume pot and nothing for tone (which would have been kept at 10 anyway). Will I need to compensate somehow for the lack of a capacator in the circuit, or will the simple pickup-gt;volume-gt;output give the equivilent of a tone knob stuck at 10?

My other guitars are both Epiphones, an SG and a Flying V. If my frankenstrat doesn't quite work out, I can always put this (that I've always dreamed of!!) in one of the others, then transplant the stock pickup into the strat.

I'd appreciate any advice or predictions that you can give, especially based on experience. I own the Invader now, after a long ordeal with suppliers, so I'd rather not have tips on which pickup i quot;shouldquot; have used

The set-up will work just fine!

500K volume pot is perfect!

try it out and see if it sounds a little too dark, if it does, solder a .001 mf cap between the 1st and 2nd lug on the volume pot.
That will sweeten up the Invader to total Badassness!
