Hello guys,
I want to do PU upgrade on a low level guitar. It's temporary, because i'm planning to buy an Epi LP Standard soon. The question is should I get a trembucker or not? Any Epiphone owner who could measure the string spread on the tunomatic bridge of a modern Epi? And is there a PU chrome cover who'd fit a trembucker?
I've read other topics on this but couldn't find a definite answer.
Thanks and cheers
My gibson is in-between Trembucker and normal spacing but normal is just a bit closer to the polepieces, it's likely that the Epi will be hte same.
The reason you couldn´t find a definite answer is because there isn´t one......Problem with Tune-O-Matics is that the saddle grooves are usually cut by hand... so the best to do is wait until the guitar comes and measure it then just to be sure
I have an Epi LP and just put a standard spaced CC in it. The poles line up fine.
I've used standard spaced pickups on all of the Epi Les Pauls I've retrofitted with Duncan pickups. Works fine. Save the Trembuckers for Strats and similar guitars...not Les Paul types. Besides, the Trembucker won't fit easily into your original humbucking pickup mounting rings and if you use the ring provided by SD the finish won't match your neck pickup ring.
i took a humbucker out of my epiphone and it lines up perfectly on my fender! but i've put standard spaced pup on my epiphone and it lines up spot on! ur better off getting a standard spaced pup though or just messure the spacing when you get the guitar.
Thanks guys, you've been of great help. I'm gonna get a regular spaced humbucker.
