im not good with technical stuff. does the key of a riff mean like the chord? like when someone tells you to solo in the key of E, do u just do alot of stuff around the E chord?

Could you be a bit more specific? Not really sure what you're asking.
no the key a E basically means any notes within the scale of E. The chord just applies to the key the song is in.
