Does anyone have any experience with these preamps - they get very good reviews and it sounded phenomenal in the store.... so I purchased one and while I still like it at home (havn't gigged with it yet), it seems to be thinner and shrill sounding (very powerful high end). The two modules I have for it are the Plexi and the Top Boost. Over all I like the sounds but I was wondering if anyone has experience taming the high end on these. Even with the high rolled off they tend to sound overwhelming at times. Am I doing something wrong? I am powering it with a VHT 2/50/2 head as opposed to Randalls head that they pair it with in the stores.
Anyway any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Im using an RM4 but not with those modules. You should go to the egnater forum, I think youll find answers there. Some of the modules need a little mod. from : localhost/

I do like mine. I have the SL and the brown modules. One thing Ive noticed though is small changes in adjustment make a huge difference. let me know how you make out. A few other forums with users is gearpage and huge racks. Bruce egnater(the designer) frequents gearpage

I dont have the preamp, but I have the 1X12 combo. I've got the blackface and XTC modules, and the rock. Im in the process of recording clips. Its a great amp. How are the other modules?
