I'm thinking of going with this wiring config for my strat once everything arrives.

from : localhost/never been a huge fan of position 2/4, and this takes full advantage of bridge and middle and also includes basically a quot;spin-a-quackquot; by having the middle pickup in parallel with the rest of the switching on it's own volume control. My question is, can I some how combine the two tone controls so I have a master tone over all 3 pickups? They illustrate it with a tone for the middle and a tone for the rest.

Thanks!

I had to go into work today. When I get home, I'll take a closer look at that and see whats cookin'.

just supply the master tone's quot;power wirequot; directially from the volume pots outter HOT prong.. this creates a master tone.. (see Tele charts.) for more views of how its done... ( no need to come of of the 5 way switch-- at all-- for a master tone) but if you did --just jump all 3 prongs together on to one wire at the 5-way. where the tones normally go.. then tak it to quot;power upquot; the master tone.

Personally-- I don't like my Middle pup quot;on a tonequot; so I'll use two prongs together at the 5-way -- those three prongs at the 5 way are the tone prongs and they are one for each pup -- starting at the bottom is the Neck pup then middle then bridge the one foward of that ( or on the end is POWER HOT) on a 5-way theres 4 prongs per side right ..

Buck, I'm not sure if you looked at the schematic, but this wiring scheme basically has two volume pots, one is after the 5-way switch (for N B combos) and the other is for the middle by itself. They are independant, turning the one volume down does not affect the other one. I'm thinking if the tone control could be tied right into the output jack it would work, but I'm not sure.

Yes, it will work, but as he states in the text, it will cause unusual tone control behaviour. Basically, you'ld just take the purple wire he shows, coming off the quot;Main PU Tonequot; and connect straight to above, on the red wire that goes to the quot;tipquot; lug of the output jack. (Disconnect it from where it is now.)

That should do it.
