hey guys its been a while since i've posted here. i've had my mesa rectoverb for a while now, and am starting to feel like its not really the right amp for me. i mostly use the clean channel and the lower gain settings, and am starting to feel that i need a different amp, possibly something like the new ac-30 custom classics. i love all the recordings i've heard using ac-30's. my style has changed greatly in the past year and i'm getting away from the more hard rock sound, more into nice cleans and lighter overdrive. so does anyone have any opinions on the new custom classics? or recommendations for another type of amp similar to it? or anyone want to talk me into keeping the mesa?

I thought the same thing about my rectoverb...only I was going opposite end of the spectrum and my sound is really going towards a 59 Bassman type tone.....if I can find someone willing to trade my mesa for a 59 bassman reissue...I'm on it, but until then I won't settle for something else (except maybe a Victoria 59 Bassman clone) Find your tone man!

The new Vox amps are pretty damn good. They packed it full of features that were requests by long-time Vox users. At the LA amp show, I stood in a room watching Vox and Marshalls reps playing the new AC-30 next to the $2500 18W handwired Marshall. I really hate to admit it, but the Chinese Vox sounded better!

Also, Vox has released some new OD/Dist pedals, which they were using with the amps. They made the whole rig really sound complete!

If I were you, I'd buy the head version and a matching 2-12 cab.

head and cab version is kinda what i was thinking, im tired of dragging around a 75 lb amp. though i might wait and see what the 1x12quot; version is like, i dont know if i will need a 2x12 since the places my band plays all mic the cabs.

Scott F just bought one.Maybe he'll chime in for you?

Even though you may not need to push that much air, a 2-12 will still give you nicer, tighter lows than the 1-12 combo. Also, the Celestion Blue speakers sound nice, but they add SO much to the price that it may be smarter to get it with the Greenbacks, then change 1 out for a Vin 30 at a later time. It blows me away how much Celestion charges for those Blue speakers!!

Hey Hat. I have had the opportunity to play the combo at my local sam ash and am very impressed. It's on my christmas list for sure. $999. I hope santa has deep pockets this year. Scott.

Many are saying that the new Chinese Vox amps deliver better tone than most of the other ones in their entire history (yes, even better than most of those handwired ones).

Vox kick for lower gain overdrive and cleans, I love the one that's in my Fargen.
