well i finished my screamer 808 clone from buildyourownclone.com today. i was all psyched to paint it and such and had it all layed out in photoshop and the paint and masking tape ready to go. then i saw how damn cool it looked with some old chrome tele knobs i had laying around on the raw metal case...so i named it quot;primal screamquot; (after the crue song for those that don't know) and left it as is. i just finished up the decals about 15 minutes ago. i built it using the .22 cap mod to replace the .47 cap to get rid of the mid spike and man this pedal kicks ass!! it sounds great and looks damn cool IMO. i have other color LEDs on the way and i think i'll go with a purple one of all the colors i ordered to finish it off. anyway, it was actually real real easy and fun to build...

1 i'd love to hear how this one sounds.
i can give a tone report after i use it a bit more...but i don't own a real screamer to compair it to, i bought this instead of the real one b/c i thought it would be fun to build...which it was!! so far i've used it for about 15 min and this is a mean little sucker with some attitude and i'm lovin' every second of it! i want to spend more time with it through different channels of my amp but with the knobs all on 10 through the clean channel...it's mean and has a great sound! i built it with as i mentioned in the first post using the .22 cap mod to get rid of the mid hump and it works great.
as for cost, the kit was $75 (plus ship) and came with everything you need and instructions can be downloaded from the site. i added my own knobs and waterslide decals i made and also have other color LEDs on the way but that's just extra that can be added to the cost...but for $75 you get everything you need including extra parts to do mods to it. it was a joke to build, a bit tedious sticking all the resistors and caps and such in but very easy, i swear i can train a monkey to do it lol. i think it took me about 2hrs from a-z that's with decals and a 10-15 test run to make sure it worked before finishing it up.

louds and sounds awesome(on paper/forum)!!!!
I want clips!!!
Oh man, that looks sweet! I dont even care how it sounds, it is that cool!
Still, I'll bet it sounds ok too.
i wish i could do clips but im not doing them in front of a pod b/c the pod just does it no justice...through the clean channel of the engl... great extra nasty blues/rock sound!!
there are clips here of all the pedals, done by the owner of the buildyourownclone.com company...

hey Mike,
that looks cool. is it hard to assemble?
it was a joke to build...just tedious work sticking all the caps and resistors and such in the circut board then soldering them. there are step by step instructions on the site...check them out...real easy! like i said, i think i can train a monkey to do it lol.

That looks awesome, Mike. I was wondering what pedal I should get next. The fun of building it myself would be a definite plus. I'm looking forward to the review.
Sweet. I gotta build me one of those. more GAS attacks.
Good call re. those Tele knobs! I can see your reflection in the level knob though
Ooh man, anybody else see this in the gallery?
where in the circuit is the culprit of the mid spike?
after hearing those clips ... oooohhh, i want one!!!!
Good job bro, looks cool too!!!

it's said to be a .47 cap and if you put a .22 in it's place it tames it...so i did it from the start with mine and i don't hear any mid spike...just some cool tones!!
thanks for the compliments guys! i was going to go crazy with painting it etc but it looked too damn mean and cool to change it!

Man, that's cool. I'm thinking about the delay.
BTW, can someone tell this ignoramus (that's me), what the difference between a Phaser and a Flanger is? Cite a popular tune as a reference.
Thanks
That definitely is a cool looking pedal, and looks as thoough it was a fun project as well... I have an old TS-5 I am jonesing to mod, and already have the Hammond enclosure so I can customize it a bit with better pots and such.... really like the Iron Cross centered on the LED, and the chrome Tele-style knobas are classy as well!!!
I'm building a clone, but I'm really looking to hump those mids!!! hahaha
