hi guys...

there has been always one spec of the floyd rose original bridges that i can´t stand: the bar and the way the bar is screwed on the bridge

and for me its a big issue...cause you can actually hear the bar when you move it...if you touch the bar you can also hear like a reverb inside the bridge...that is a pain on the ass to manage...so i was finding out an alternate bridge like a kahler, a schaller or an ibanez (i used them in the past, and was very happy for not having any of those problems) where the bar screws on the bridge by pressing it agains the hole of the bridge, not by a torque like the floyd...

how many bridges do you know that are built this way? and the most important thing...replacing a floyd for a kahler/schaller/ibanez is possible? i mean, are they constructed to be compatible each one with the others?

thanks

The reverb is nmot the bar bur the trem springs...put foam rubber under the springs in teh cavity and it´s gone Ibanez bars pop in and out, except the TRS bars whick are practically identical to Floyd bars. Schcller floyd bars are very literally the exact same thing as OFR bars.

Kahler no longer makes floyds and the PRO or Vindicator will not in any way fit a Floyd rout.

What you´re looking for (the way I understand it) is a cheapo import floyd bar..... the kind that screws into the collar instead of having the quot;throwover nutquot;...

no i am not looking for any cheapo floyd ahah...the ibanez ones aren´t cheap replacements...i dunno how much do i have to pay for an original floyd replacementent but the ibanez edge pro bridges are going about 300-350#8364;

btw do they fit in those guitars that have original floyd rose on their building specs...i mean, the cavity of the floyd is the same one for ibanez bridges or will i have to change it (i don´t want to quot;damagequot; woods at all....)?

thanks zerb

what you want if you don't like the floyds with a collar that holds the bar in is one of the first floyds from 1984-1987 where they used a bar that threads in like a strat bar does. these are a bit harder to find now and you can never find a perfectly mint one, they all have some wear to the chrome or pitting or rust. they are also said to be the best floyds out thee since they didn't skimp on the metals used in them. i have one on an 80's aria and it does seem to be all around a bit beefier (for lack of a better word) than a new original floyd.

notice the bar...no collar, it threads into the floyd.more info on floyds here from : localhost/www.vintagekramer.com/parts6.htm

Why on earth would you rather have the screw in type than the one with the collar??!?

no idea man. either one works for me, but i can say that the older ones are better made. plus you can retrofit the non collar style to a new floyd or the collar style to an old floyd if wanted (if you can find the parts that is).

Well I like being able to put the bar in one place and have it stay there. All the Floyds I've used with the collar type fall right down when you aren't using it. It's a real pain in the ass when you try to turn knobs or flick switches and the bar is just hanging in the way IMO.

hmm, what kind of floyd are you using? I used to have a problem with the floyd copy on my 7 string where I could tighten the collar enough to get the bar to hold its place, but as soon as I moved the bar the thing got all loose and was doin some serious wobbleage.

Bought a new floyd arm from stew mac, popped it in, perfect fix. No more wobble, stays when I want it to and doesnt when I don't.

Can somebody tell me if you can replace a Ibanez Floyd with a Schaller (This one for example?)

I´ve got a Ibanez RG 2570 (year 2003)...would this Schaller fit?

Thanks!

J/k, I'm also curious so consider this a bump.

Thanks mate.

ya ever look back and just think, quot;man, i really cant remember making that postquot;?

Umm if you have a problem with bar tightness, adjust the 'bar tightness' screw which is on the opposite side of the floyd in your cavity.

All the time... We're getting old.

I´m just curious..I can´t set up the intonation for 2 strings because the screws are screwed up lol..

So, give my please either a YES or NO

I HATE THE COLLAR!!!!
Who's idiotic idea was it to use that freakin' collar??
Looks, feels, works like a desk descision!!!

Death to collars....I am still looking for someone who makes the old style bar!
Gotoh does, and some other company that I forgot, had it bookmarked on my fried drive.
