I just recorded my amp (Marshall JCM 800 2203) with a new Shure SM57 mic I just bought. I just did a clip to show the tone, no fancy playing here. Any comments, suggestions for better recording sound are welcome, im very new at the whole recording thing. Thanks

Sounds ok, mic placement is experimental. You should try all different angles yourself to see what you prefer.
Also with open back combos, mic the back as well as the front, micing the back will record some low end bassy stuff when mixed in with the front sounds brilliant.
It's not a combo, its the head and a 4x12 cabinet with Vintage 30s and G12H30s. I believe that clip is of a G12H30.
Could I still use your tip with a 4x12 cab?
I know its not a combo, I was just stating that when using combos I like micing the back and the front.
You could try it but it probably wouldn't have the same effect as an open back.
I can't get the link to work...
Same here...no go.
