As some of you know I was about to get the EMG-T set, but when I went to the local IRC they were having a 30% off all electronics. Well, I was looking around and decided on a 1/4LB after talking it over with my old guitar teacher. (I took lessons there and he was there durring the sell.)

I just got it back from the shop today, had the frets leveled and the pickup installed.

It sounds pretty good, its not as different from the stock pickups as I would have expected, and it actually has better cleans! Just have to roll the volume off.

The only thing that has me wondering is under high-gain its a little muddy. Anything I should do different? Im guessing Im using to much gain, but due to people watching TV and wanting to hear it, I can't check and see.

The solo'ing tones are AMAZING tho. Its so much easier to play with high-output pickups.
Also wanted to note that it didn't overpower my neck pickup, suprizingly. The stock MIM neck works great with it, I dont think I want to change the neck at all.

Finaly got time to do a GOOD test run. 1st im going to say that I will sound insane because I have found Brown sound from a telecaster.

The reason it was muddy is, I was using the same setting I use to buffer back my EMG's so they sound normal. So duh, its going to be muddy as hell.I turned it on the highest gain channel(Nu-Metal, names are decieving), cranked the gain, cranked the volume, cranked the trebble, cut the mids, cranked the bass, and let rip on an A-Chord and **** my pants!

No ****ing Joke, this does van halen so perfect, the harmonics are identical, the tone and feel is identical, its really and truely BROWN SOUND from a telecaster. (Laugh all you want, because I am too.)

And you can roll back the volume and still have a wonderful telecaster tone.

The seymour duncan tele lead Quarter Pounder, the pickup that makes a telecaster have brown sound.

Don't believe me? Buy my exact same setup and do exactly what I have done, it'll get ya there, now if only teles had a floyd rose.

Sweet. I have heard lots of good reviews about the tele Qp.. glad you like it man.. rock on.

Yea, only bad thing is, vintage purist who want lots of twang wont like it, because it sounds exactly like a humbucker.

I don't usually take advice from purists.. I'm not very pure

I had a qp in a strat for a while and really liked it for a heavy surf tone. I have not tried the tele qp yet

Yea, they are right tho, it doesn't have much noticable twang now, it sounds like its got a really really damn hot humbucker in the bridge, far hotter than my EMG's. But with the clairity of EMG's.

Me twang=No.
Anyway.
