Guys,
I just got a SD Hot Rail and SD Cool Rail for my Jackson SL-1. Problem: the original SD single-coils are mounted directly to the wood w/wood screws, but the new pickups have a metal threaded sleeve on each end of the pickup, and they came with the appropriate screws for mounting to a pickguard.
What to do?
Maybe you could drill the baseplate holes alittle bigger?
Yup...you'll need to just drill the holes in the legs a little bigger and use the same screws from the stock pups.
Sounds like a winner. Give it a shot, bro. I think you'll enjoy the pickups, BTW.

Guys, quickie question: Is the purpose of drilling it to get the sleeve loose by spinning it, or to simply core it out?
Just simply to core it out, allowing the screw that held your previous pickups in to fit through, so you can mount it to the body.

You may also be able to press out the insert, I haven´t had one of the redesigned ones in my hands yet to try
Ok, problem solved. I found, after looking for the 3rd time in my spare parts box, 4 black wood screws that fit inside the sleeve inserts perfectly - no drilling required.
