Hey, I want to replace my Warwick Thumb 6 Active MEC Soapbars with the ASB 6. Has anyone done this? Did you have to do any pup cavity mods? They're pretty much the same size - 32x118mm. Has anyone had a Duncan in a Warwick Thumb? how do they sound?
Thanks

The Basslines active soapbars were first created while we worked with various Warwick artists, most notably John Pena and Jimmy Earl. So they work very well with Warwicks. There's a very close relationship between our company and Warwick.
About the Basslines soapbars installed in a Warwick (and the STC-3a preamp), Bass Player Magazines' former gear editor Scott Malendrome wrote that they were the best sound pickup and preamp combination he had ever heard.
I'll take it...
Awesome, thanks man. I wasn't aware of the relationship you guys had with Warwick and it's great to know that. Just what I wanted to hear. I'm gonna go for it.
I can't find any price listings on the site and the brochure won't ship to Canada (Toronto, On) so could you give me a rough estimate on how much a pair of the Basslines will run me with the STC-3a pre? I'm probably going to order them through Long amp; McQuade because I'm pretty sure they carry Duncans.
thanks again

ahh ya lucky bastard you have a thumb! thats my favorite bass ever, by far (i prefer the 4 stringer though). do you have any pics of yours? (i obviously dont have one, so i cant help you on the pickup situation, sorry)
hey, I don't have any shots of mine at the moment, but you have good taste .
Warwicks all the way
By the way, I noticed you have the Spider II. Those stacks are sweeeet.
its my backup/school amp. i got it so i dont have to bring my expensive amp to school with me (where drunken accidents are aplenty), but it ended up really coming in handy when the tubes in my XXX died and i took a month and a half to decide whether i wanted 6L6s or EL34s (i went with the EL34's btw).
back on basses, im thinking of maybe getting a dean sledgehammer bass around xmas time (its pretty much a thumb rip-off). i tried one in the store and it played pretty nice. its only around $500, which is much more wallet friendly than the thumb. also id have to be a way better bass player to spend the kinda money that the thumb costs. i dont even have any guitars that cost that much.
