i just changed the whole set of strings today cos the ones before were 6 months old and i snapped one of em..sooo... they went down and up without a problem what.. so ... ever. played for a couple of mins, went bat**** on the floyd, unpluged, tuned again, played again and they stayed in perfect tune.

no reseting of the floyd, no tuning issues, no major headaches, like some of you make believe..so, is it just MY guitar or are you folks overreacting a bit?

i realy dont know why you are complaining so much. get a REAL floyd and stop *****ing for crying out loud

i have no problems with my floyd equipped guitars floating or top mounted. i have no idea what quot;theyquot; are talking about either lol.

As long as you change your mindset as to how to tune one I don't think they are too bad. The pain comes when you switch gauge/brand and/or tuning. Once it's all setup correctly it's great. Getting it there is a *****.

How long does it take you to tune up? My only complaint is that sometimes it takes me awhile on a floating floyd. If I overcompensate by tuning way sharp I get there quicker.

I agree with your sentiment. Sure it's more work than a vintage trem, but a floyd beats up on anything else......and steals it's lunch money. :

To change strings on my Floyd, it takes no time, just the process of unwraping the strings and cutting off the ends, thats the most time consuming part of it all. I've never had any tuning issues ever. I setup my friends not to long ago too.

But I do remember the 1st time I got a hold of a Floyd Rose, I screwed it up big time. But with practice you get better I suppose. Now I know what I'm doing with it.

if you know how it works, i dont see why it would be such an issue changing gauges and/or tunings you just tighten the screws so it's level and tune every half or quarter turn. sure it takes a bit longer, but i dont think it's such a pain

i usualy tune a bit sharp cos when they stretch i can use the fine tuners to get it back in tune.

the whole thing took me about 35-40 minutes

unscrew the 1st 3rd of the nut, loosen the string, open the saddle take string out, put the ball end through the tuner, cut the string at the finetuner, put in, close saddle, tune up. repeat with 2nd string, close the nut.. rinse/repeat till you've done all.. go nuts on the guitar, check the tuning, unscrew the nut if neccessary, tune up and forget your tuning woes untill your strings are dead or you snap one
just so you know.. this was my 1st time changing the whole set.
when the D string snaped back in july, i just roled it off the tuner, inserted it back into the saddle, tuned it up and that was it

people must have realy ****ty floyds if they are having such problems

After you tune it do you leave the nut locked till you change strings again, or is there some other time you would unlock the nut.
I have a Jackson license Floyd

I'm about a half hour as well. Time well spent IMO.

I've got a floyd from '83 that has seen a ton of abuse and is still rock solid and holds perfect tune.

I have a Jackson license Floyd

once i lock it i leave it locked till next string changethe only time i unlock the nut is when i have to replace a broken string. othervise, it stays locked

The problems happen when people start changing gauges, adjusting the height, and trussrod, but don't know how to do a final intonation, after messing with everything else.

Funny that you bag on people with Floyd problems yet you use strings that are bordering on 50% corrosion. hehe

LOL

yea.. i usualy leave the string on for a couple of months.. dont have the funds to buy em every couple of weeks

Even with a change of Gauge, I can re-string a Floyd in 10-15 minutes. I find them easier to sort out than the vintage bridges now. As long as you have a decent system.....Schaller/Original, they are no problem at all.

I just don't care for Floyds, I'm much happier getting my string changes done in under 5 minutes, maybe 15 if I clean the guitar up too. I also like to be able to use alternate tunings on the fly without a headache. Different strokes.

exactly

if you cant work a floyd. you is stupid. it's not like it's rocket science

I think most of the complaints are with the licensed systems. I have little or no problems with my OFR.
