Got chance of buying a full shred, anyone using one? Thrash/Death metal type stuff.

it's a great lead pup and i consider it to be great but it's a bit of a tricky pony. Not everyone likes it.

I think the Full Shred is a great pickup and I think you could probably make it work for Thrash/Death metal, but there are probably better pickups for said purpose. The Dimebucker or Invader come to mind.

yeah im still deciding between a distortion and an emg 81 for my main guitar (but that is another post) but i've seen a full shred on ebay for a decent price and thinking of trying it for one of my other guitars.

I use it for the neck, but in bridge i think it sounds really good for riffing cause the bass wont get in your way, and it has a pretty good crunch. I think the opposite of hellion.. i think the full shred doesnt sound as good with leads because of the lack of bass. Depends on if you riff or shred alot i think.

I use it for rythm work and use the '59 for leads similar to Suislide.

I don't play Death metal seriously so I couldn't tell you if it'd work for that or not

The Full shred in the neck is totally killer, but i've never used it in the bridge.

You might want to go with a Dime or an invader in the bridge.

id pick a Full shred over any bridge pickup, i play in a metal band, its the most wonderfull pickup ever , it does clean nicely even through my 5150 but it keeps everything tight and powerfull with low tunings when the gain is turned up, its perfect(much better than the invader imo), and i mean for lead/rhythm....sex . buy it.edit: just noticed you are in the UK also, how much is it gonna cost you? when i got mine a while back it cost me £90 and despite that being a lot it was worth every penny, i have other seymour duncans and dimarzio's and my bands other guitarist has an invader in his guitar, the full shred is easily my favourite, ive yet to try a dimebucker though, or a Duncan Distortion.

just think about it, my mexican fender strat with floyd rose trem has the full shred pickup installed at the bridge, i would chose it over my dimarzio evo equiped ibanez jem every day of the week

the jem is worth 5 times as much.EDIT 2 : apparently the guy from Lamb of god uses the full shred (i dont blame him).

ok now im gonna shut up :P

the Full Shred- i adore the neck unit, the bridge... well there are other more gain friendly models. i have it in my Ibanez S540:

neck- Full Shred
mid- Hot Stack
bridge- Invader

if you solo in the neck under lots of drive, the FS would reward you well- clear individual notes.

Hows that sound in the strat because i was thinkin about putin one in my squier fat strat (agathas body/maple neck/rose fretboard)

k17 ... did you check out the soundclips I post in the tips and clips room for you in responce to your JB - Full Shred clips request?

It's done in a Strat type guitar (Alder Body/Maple Neck/Rosewood board)

ill check it out

More gain friendly than a full shred? I dont really think so. GREAT pickup!!! The neck and bridge are great. They are very underrated in my book. Besides my Bill Lawrence XL-500, they are my favorite pickups for thrash.

Got it for £45 Bazz so I can give it a go.... Funny you should mention Lamb of God, just heard them for the first time the other day.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
