I've been bouncing all over the place on what to do about my PV project guitar. I've got it narrowed down to 2 options.

I'm fairly certain I'm going to go with a string thru hardtail, I just don't want to buy the routing templates, but I'm going with the tele bucker plate.

Now I'm trying to decide whether or not to get a tele neck pup, or a mini-humbucker (Gibson Style).

Thoughts?

Luke

Put some DiMarzios in it.

If it's a choice between those two, I'd say mini hum 100% for sure. My next upgrade will be a SD Vintage Mini Hum in the neck of my Tele. I am not at all fond of the tone from the Tele neck - the best description I can think of is that it sounds like a Strat neck that's been kicked in the bean bag.

XSSIVE has two Tele's with mini hum's, I'm sure he can give you more info.

Well Mike's tele's gave me the idea. I actually like tele neck pups, I was thinking the A2P would be the way to go.

I've only dealt with the vintage gibson minis, not the SD's.

I'm curious about the answer to this question also. Hey Mikey!

I like tele ant neck a lot. Also, I like SSL1 in the tele neck position. Maybe a tab bit thin but very bluesy nontheless.

how about an A2 mini-bucker? There's an idea I'm willing to try in my tele.

I haven't found a use for a Tele neck pickup, so I'd have to go with the mini as well..

Although I happen to like a good Tele neck pup better than a Strat neck pup, I think the mini-HB is a great choice, especially if you have a Tele bridge pup that's near or slightly over vintage output. I have an SM-3 neck in a Tele, and it is very warm and full sounding with a nice blend of single coil cut and HB compression. If you are using a full HB in the bridge (not sure from your post), then I'd probably opt for a full neck HB, but with a Tele bridge pup the mini-HB will likely match up better. BTW, I did not like the A2P or 5/2 Tele neck pups I tried -- I much prefer the Antiquity Tele neck or a Fender Tele neck pup.

Well, if it'll sound anything like a firebird that way, YES, get the mini-buckers, they're the sweetest sounding pickups ever.

Yeah Kelsey I'm going to go with a full size bucker in the bridge, but I really like the articulation you get from a single, or mini in the neck.

Also a bump for Mike.

Mini-Hum definitely.....

The Antiquity Firebird is great. Its A2, and super sweet.
