fit into a Jackson DK2 without mods? Thanks!

yep.. AFAIK they are interchangeable without any mods...what i think though.. you will have to watch out for the longer locking screws on the floyd i think

I swapped the Jackson licensed Floyd on my SL-4 to an Original Floyd with out any problems. BTW, my SL-4 has a recessed trem and I didnt have any clearence problems!

It will work in that direction. But putting the stock JT580 into the hole of a FR or copy won't work. The 580 has a bigger plate.

Can I use the same posts? will I have a gap? I got to blast this axe the other day thru my main amp (first time) and it sounded like a Dream. The axe hadnt felt that magical to me till then... I got straplocks and figure the Floyd is the only thing that needs swapped. ( I got it with an upgraded neck pup and I put a Mr Brownie in the bridge) Plus I can put a D tuna on an original... Thanks for the input!!

There will be a space.

I am pretty happy with my 580's. Might want to try it first.

For all I've heard, though not tried, it should.

But I'd like to recommend you to change it only if really necessary. I've an axe with an OFR and another with a JT-580LP. Even if I do like the OFR better, I'm not updating the other one anytime soon. They work quite well, IMO.

It will drop in wiothout problems... the rout will have gaps, most notably on the bass side, but it will work fine from a functional standpoint...

The posts I recommend swapping for the OFR posts as the Takeuchi ones will eat away the knife edges quite quickly... but it will work with the factory posts as an interim solution

Zerb, I agree that the OFR posts are probably harder/better too. Any mods required to mount those or do they fit right into the same holes?

Do I really even need to bother?? Im not a whammy a holic.. I mostly wanted to change so I can add a D tuna.. And I know the OFR is a better unit. But if it isnt $160 plus mods better, then, Ill leave it. I dont wanna tear up my purple baby..

For dropped D tuning, have you tried just the fine tuning screw trick? Tuning the low E all the way down and then taking it up?

you just screw the low e fine tuner all the way down, tune the string, lock the nut, check the tuning, then just unscrew the fine tuner till you reach D
