I was thinking...we all know and love Strats, Tele's Les Pauls, etc...what are some great guitars that seem to go with little or no real props? What got me thinking is my old Yamaha SG 2000 (it was good enough for Carlos Santana before he found PRS)...it is such an amazing guitar! Maple and Mahogany neck through body, mahogany wings, maple top, ebony fingerboard, killer inlays, good binding, killer hardware, from the factory it had good pots and switches...it really is a great guitar! The only reason I really want a Les Paul it because they look so damn cool!

Let's hear them...

I've always liked the USA BC Rich Mockingbirds, but a lot of the USA BC Rich stuff was great quality.

Also, I think some of Ibanez's signature models are fantastic guitars with little credit. I'm not talking about the Satch/Vai sigs, but the John Scofield, George Benson, and Andy Timmons models.

I've got a Yamaha acoustic that i bought back ~1986 for 200 bucks. It blew away ANYTHING that I could find in the $200 range. Heck it blew away a Gibson and a Fender that cost twice as much. After beating on it for almost two decades it sounds even better today...dispite numerous cracks in the finish that I got when I drove across town in a car with no heat when it was like 5 degrees F.

I'd say 335-style guitars!! They're rarely on the list of ppl who're after rock n roll (although they are popular with bluesy folk) and they should be, IMO.

The Yamaha Pacifica line of guitars in general, the old models and the new ones as well - see the new 812V.

Older MIA Peavey's. Great guitars. I've never understood why they don't command more respect than they do.

Dusenberg makes lots of very good guitars.
Love the Paul Gilbert and Andy Timmons models from Ibanez.

The Gibson Nighthawk is the best guitar they EVER made. LP shape, slimmer body with a tummy cut, 25 1/2quot; scale, available as a string through body fender style hard tail or with a floyd. One model had a mini humbucker at the neck and full humbucker at the bridge, others had a mini humbucker at the neck, single coil in the middle, and full humbucker in the bridge. Had a slimmer neck too. PERFECTION. It was discontinued in '97 or '98. I want one.

fender jaguar! so many bands use it, and they're purdy

My vote goes to the old Harmony Broadway's.
BTW-mine got stolen so if anyone has one in any condition I'll buy it.

I've got a Gamp;L Asat Deluxe (I was turned onto the model by GearJoneser) that I believe is greatly underappreciated. It's a Telecaster with balls....what more could by want?

Just about anything by Guild seems underappreciated.

i have to agree with Guild for sure...i have a '79 Guild S60D which was my firts guitar and it's just a killer guitar with a comfortable body shape great neck shape (set neck all mahogany) and came stock with Dimarzio single coils that sound pretty damn good.

I was thinking Peavey also. The old ones are good and I think the new ones are built very well and underappreciated also.

Some of the old kramers from the 80's are pretty nice...

I picked up an old pacer w/ an EMG 81 and two SAs, floyd, the works down at my local music shop for 100 bucks.

though later on when I decided to strip it and refinish it (it was pretty beat up), i found that the finish was like three millimeters thick. f***

JAGS!!!

I love me some Jags... Jazzs too The ultimate surf sound (for better or worse) and once you learn to use the switches, actually very versatile. Actually, despite most people hating them, the prices right now for them are very overrated (thanks to that Nirvana guy... and he didn't even use a quot;realquot; Jag). Still... too many people seem to hate these without ever having played them or knowing how to use them. (editted to say- I'm not talking to you, Lew! I know you've played them and you hate them)

Mustangs to a lesser extent. I was going to say Schecter... but I think people have come around and reallized they're good.
