Hi, can i have some comments on the Dimarzio Steves Special please, can it do metal. How versatile is it? etc etc

I have one in a hardtail Ibanez...fixed bridge basswood body. I like it, it sings in the upper registers well when soloing without being harsh. Lots of harmonics....if I had one complaint it would be that it's a little dirty in the low end. when i'm chugging in the low registers it seems to get a little muddy.
Cleans are really nice, especially split.

Metal is good (except for comment above)
Cleans are good

Hope this helps!

I have two in an H-S-H alder body Yamaha Pacifica (they were standard in the 900 series). Clear, slightly scooped cleans, nice fuzz as mentioned above. I don't find it muddy at all with my guitar, but I use a DG stomp modeler mainly. They split very well for a bucker, if you choose the correct side to split to (the one that feels like it has quot;more wirequot; - the bobbin is wound fuller.

I have a Steve's Special and Air Norton on my RG350DX, and it's awesome. The description in DiMarzio's site is right on! And yes, it can do metal! Our band plays quot;old schoolquot; metal, e.g. Megadeth, Ozzy/Sabbath, Metallica, etc. I do other stuff with it like Satch songs and though I'm not going to get Satch's tone, I love the tone I'm getting out of it, so I guess it's pretty versatile.

Oh, btw, twas never muddy in my experience. And it has enough lows for those palm-muted, down strokes.

Rock on!
