Anybody have one? What do yo think about it? Also, tell me which one you have.
thanks
I have the real good one. I forget the model. It has volume and tone controls and the whole nine yards. My brother Bruce sells them so he got me one for Christmas last year.
I like it. I think it's most useful if you're still playing at a moderate volume.
If I set it to 2 or so and use it to bring a cranked 50 watt amp down to bedroom levels then the tone is kind of grainy and unappealing.
But if a guy had a 50 watt amp and it was just a little to loud for the gig and he wanted to bring the amp's volume down just a bit then it produces a really nice tone that can be quite good.
I think that's what it does best.
IMO, it's not for taking a 50 watt or 100 watt Marshall, cranking the amp to 8 or 10 and then turning the Mass down to next to nothing. It'll do that but that does not produce a very appealing tone, IMO.

Thanks Lew...I was hoping you would post, and that's what i wanted to hear!
I have the Mini-Mass 50. I use it with my Classic 30 and it works great. I like the switch where you select either 4, 8 or 16 ohms. Comes in handy if you want to exoeriment with differant speaker ohmages. Does'nt suck out any tone unless you use an extreame amount of attenuation. In case you did'nt know there's a switch for Bypass and Normal. When switched to normal the attenuator kicks in right away and your signal is instantley cut by about 1/4 which may or may not work for some people but for me it works fine. You can then cut the signal further by rotating the volume knob counter-clockwise from 10 on down. The only other attenuator I tried was a THD Hotplate but with my amp it did'nt work very well. Too much compression on the bass, even with the deep switch activated. No problems with the Weber. Hope this helped.
I briefly had one with the tone controls. I sold it 'cause I still had to EQ the DI pretty heavily so I sold it in favor of the smaller and cheaper Mini MASS. Hopefully it'll come in soon.
It's a good attenuator that compares quite well with my THD Hotplate. Each one has its strengths and weaknesses and many amps seem to like one better than the other.

Try the load dump if you just want to attenuate somewhat and it's cheaper yet!!
I have the mini mass, got the 50 watt for $90 off ebay. I really couldnt be happier. Even with the thing at 2 and my amp at 4, it still sounds good. Its not quite bedroom level, but its not real far off. The only time it sounds bad is if you set it for max. attenuation. If you have an amp that is hard to crank like a marshall, then you will probably have to run it at higher volumes just to get a decent sound, like they said. I strongly recommend the weber attenuators.
anymore mass users out there?
I love mine, I have some clips posted on Ted's site. I have had mine over two years now. Works perfectly, I never use it turned down, but at gigging levels or higher it is great.
any pics?
