It's not cheap, but it's $2300 well spent. If you bid, you'll lose it. Someone will click BIN!
from : localhost/cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVWI have a respect for Bogner, but still too many features and stuff for me....not my favorite amplifier, although I do admit they have incredible tones

I've never even seen a Bogner.........have I heard one? Who uses them?

Honestly, I've only heard OF THEM here!!!
It sure looks impressive amp; I'm assuming it isn't called an quot;ECSTASYquot; for nothing.
But I admit, I need to get out more....

You've got that right. Never played one, but every clip I've ever heard of one has been If I had that kind of cash laying around, I might consider it.

$2300 is pretty damn good for that.... if I wasn't still in a massive crater from buying that VH-4 I'd buy it right now. That sucker looks clean... most of the XTC footswitches I see look pretty beat up looking with lots of chips and scratches.

I've played it thru a Bogner 4x12 with V30s and kinda had a love hate affair with it, though I'm sure I'm one of the few people. The clean channel was amazing, the Plexi channel was a dream, I had never heard such a thick raunchy tone in my life. The high gain channel was kind of a disappointment for me though, it was very articulate almost too articulate for some people but it lacked a certain tightness. The store owner had me try a Koch Multitone for comparison afterwards and wouldn't take no for an answer, and well that was the lead channel I was looking for. Maybe I didn't tweak it right, I did have the volume knobs on 5 though. Also the features overwhelmed me a little, I remember another guy who had the money to buy it saying he'd rather try my Mesa as it had more features than he needed. I love Bogners though, can't wait to own an Uberschall or a matching Shiva head for my cab, I think I'd need another dance with the XTC 101B to form a solid opinion as I was truly amazed by the Plexi channel.

If you own a VH4, why on earth would you need the Bogner? I doubt there are a lot of tones (if any) that it gets that you couldn't easily get with one of your four killer channels.

You are right, I will be buying no more amps for my own use... I am probably done with amp GAS forever. But, I could probably buy that Bogner for $2300 and make a few bucks by selling it locally.

The credit card killer.....
Notice each power tube has its own tube fault light and fuse, each channel has its own effects loop also...

Yeah, the Bogner 101B and Diezel VH-4 are pretty much the end of the road for multi channel amps. I doubt anything will ever be better, unless those two companies produce it. The only thing that would make them better is if you could use any tube type you wanted. The complexity of navigating them takes a little time at first, but once you know the capabilities of these amps, you can pretty much hear a tone in your head and find it in one of the channels.

*cough* Suhr OD-100 *cough*

WOW.....that Diezel is pretty impressive.

I'd need a few college courses to figure those things out, compared to my simple amps!

Anyone know that website where you can hear different amps in action.....

proguitar.com or something like that?????

You just described the Road King. I'm not trying to tout my own gear over anyone else's - there are a number of really cool features that the VH4 has that I wish my Mesa had, but it's got lots of cool tricks that I have yet to see anywhere else.

The ability to run different poweramp set-ups on all 4 completely individual channels, run combinations of both series and parallel loops on any channel, a seperate reverb for every channel, and clean solo boost all on one footswitch does it for me.

The ability to run two different cabs (like a closed-back 4x12 and an open-back 2x12) in different combinations on every channel is cool too, though a feature I don't currently use.

That said, I'd love to have a VH4.
About 3/4 of the back pannel of a RK:Now if only it could froth some cream to top the espresso with..................

The Road King is by far the most complicated piece of gear I have ever seen. I looked at one in GC and seriously had no idea where I would even start! I didn't try it.. I did try the Stiletto. Both seemed like heads you'd need to evaluate over several days to pass judgement IMO.

The VH-4 really isn't very complicated. It can use 5 or 6 different power tubes but is really pretty simple. A bright switch for channel 1 and 2 only and basic EQs. It takes only a few minutes to get VH-4 switching channels with a MIDI controller

Found it.... from : localhost/have the Bogner Shiva amp; the VH4.

Of course, I'm at work amp; they won't play!!! _)*amp;amp;~#(@!^$*@amp;@#()!

The Road King really isn't that *complicated* once you realize that you're basically dealing with four seperate but straight-forward amps in one chassis. The thing that seems daunting at first is that YOU get to decide how those four amps are configured, rather than being stuck with predetermined parameters.

There are just a series of very intuitive and cool controls that are repeated on the amp 4 times.

I have mine set up like this (keep in mind I could turn around and do it completely differently with about 10 minutes of tweaking):

Channel 1: Chimey clean (like Fender) lt;--- my main clean tone
Poweramp - four 6L6s at 100 watts
Rectification - tube
Preamp - quot;Tweedquot;
Lots of reverb
Season EQ to taste.

Channel 2: Dirty midrange chunk (like pushed vintage Marshall)
Poweramp - two EL34s at 50 watts
Rectification - tube
Preamp - quot;Britquot;
A touch of verb
Cranked EQ with presence at 0
Roll the guitar volume back on this one and it's blues time.

Channel 3: saggy Rock overdrive lt;--- set up identical to a Single Rec
Poweramp - two 6L6s at 50 watts
Rectification - tube
Preamp - quot;Vintagequot;
Moderate reverb
Focused lows, very present mids, and some high-end sparkle

Channel 4: Ultimate Metal Blitzkrieg lt;--- reminiscent of Uberschall
Poweramp - two EL34s and four 6L6s at 120 watts
Rectification - diode
Preamp - quot;vintagequot; (modern has NO sag. I need a little)
Light reverb
Huge bass. Huge mids. Season highs to add definition.

Sorry for hijacking this thread. I'm not trying to present my amp as the be-all end-all. The Bogner 101B is a killer amp and that is a good price.

road kings and vh4's have enough controls to fly planes with. And thats to many knobs and switches for me.

and sosomething, are ch.3 of your RK, it isnt exactly set up like a single recto because single rectos are diode rectified.(no offense)

Cool. Thanks for the great info. Looks like a great piece of gear. Wow. You must be able to dial in tons of different tones with that bad boy!

Damn, I want one of those Bogner's, bad! I am going to try one during the summer holiday, and I'm sure looking forward to it.
