anyone know how to convert an Ibanez 5 series pedal to true bypass? I want to do this to my TM-5.
thanks

What kind of switch does it have? Is this a push button stomp switch pedal, or does it have the Boss-style switch?

Sorry, you're pretty much out of luck. It can be done, but it's an extremely involved process and you'll need to do a lot of routing to the pedal housing. Even guys like Keeley and Analogman who specialize in pedal mods refuse to do this. Why do you want to true bypass it, Ibanez pedals have a very well designed buffered bypass? I would strongly suggest leaving it as is and just using a true bypass box instead.

that's what i was thinking too. I want to do this because the switch sucks and i don't want to replace the switch with the same crappy switch.
I'll probably just build a true bypass box but i don't want to spend 20 bucks building a box for a $20 pedal.
Now you've piqued my curiousity. Whats a quot;Bossquot; switch?
I'm curious as to why this would be so hard.
I was referring to the FET switch on a Boss pedal. Replacing the switch wouldn't be too hard, but I don't know of any easy way to true bypass a Boss-style pedal.

push button switch as in the type on an MXR pedal
the boss type is a non-latching (i believe) switch. basically it shorts the circuit while pushed in, open when not.
it's the old 5 series ... you know the one that looks like a lady bug.
Ok, I see. Basically, its a solid-state switch, rather than mechanical.
That wouldn't be hard to quot;bypassquot;, just a bit harder than usual.
