I've read some reviews and it sounds like a fine combo. It will go on my Ibanez RG1550 (bolt-on neck, basswood body, maple fretboard/neck, Floyd Rose).
I thought about the Duncan JB on bridge, but I used to find the low-end to be a bit flabby on it, and after watching Megadeth live I confirmed it. And for the neck the 59' would suit me better than a Jazz; the Jazz is too clean, while the 59 seems to have some meat and character to it.
Has this combo been done before? I've never seen or read about it.
Also, could the Custom be too bright for this guitar?
What's the amp situation?
Personally, I don't care for the 59, I find it too boomy and bright. I much preffer the APH or Pearly Gates. As for the bridge, the Custom is my fave high output pickup. It is bright, but it is still fat and chunky. If you have a thick sounding amp, the Custom will work great.
I'll get a Peavey Bandit soon. Far from the best thing, but I'm on a VERY limited budget and can't do much about it...
The Bandit's a fine amp. I really like the cleans on it. The Custom should work great with that set up.
