Hey guys, I'm looking at either getting a POD or new tube amp of some sort. I just realized that I'm not goig to want to lug the only amp i have from school to home on the weekends, for when i do come home. I was thinking of either leaving my Roland at my house and using a POD at school, or getting a tube amp and brng my Roland to school. But i doubt I'm going to get a tube amp, why spend so much when I'll hardly use it. If I were to get a POD, I'd prolly get the latest and best model, which ever one that is. But I would need a speaker cabinet for it for sure. Now I'm not a big techy, so would I be able to just directly plug the POD into the speaker cab or would I need some sort of device in the middle, like a power amp or preamp or something? I'm not too familiar with PODS, although I have recorded through one for my audition CD's, but i didn't pay any attention to how it was setup. Thanks for the info!
I use a POD Xt and it can't drive a cabinet or speakers itself. However, you could plug it into a computer and use its speakers (some computers have bad ass speakers hooked to them), use headphones, or use a power amp and a cab. A POD would be easy to carry around and stuff.
depending on how much you wanted to spend, you could get a POD and an Atomic amp...the Atomic amps are made for a POD...they are pretty bad ass...do a google search on them and read up!
Thanks for the info guys. I may just get a POD and leave that at my house, hooked up to my PC and bring the Roland to school.
actually for blues i think some sort of cyber series amp would be best. Fender does fender amp models best, and fender makes the best blues amps IMO
but POD's can get good blues tones, i got one dialed in right now, old bassman, classic dist (rat), 4x10 line 6 cab, and a little digital delay, sounds REAL good, and theres also more amps you can get off the internet, either hi gain ones or vintage ones
so either way you'd be set, but personally i'd go for a cyber twin if i played blues pretty exclusively
If you were to get a POD, Tech 21 makes a good cabinet with a buildt in power amp. It doesn't colour the tone as much as a regular amp would. It sounds really good, actually.
Thanks for the input.
