Just ran into this on Ebay :
The bridge and pickups look like they're stock ; I didn't know unorthodox 'birds like that existed... Anyway, it's always good to spread Firebird GAS
Very Strange..though I think I do recall seeing those bridges on some other gibson/epi guitars many moons ago.
Not sure if I like it or hate it
It's advertised as an Epiphone but then says it was made in the USA. Weren't/Aren't all Epi's made in the Far East?
I'm not a fan of it to be honest, but I ain't buying it so who cares

in the past Epi's are made in USA.
I owned one of those. Mine was a brown one. The finger board iwas phenolic (or ebonal), amp; the Steinberger trem stayed in tune. It had a locking nut. I swapped out the pickups with real EMGs, amp; it made a great shread machine,. Too bad I'm no shredder. IIt had neck thru construction, amp; the control cavity on the back was routed like a real firebird. Had a hard shell too. I don't remember the trem being a transposing unit, but it did have a lock so you could clamp it down lke a fixed bridge. Fun guitar.
Sweet. I'd love to try out that bridge. Very cool axe.
I highly doubt that one was made in the US. Most likely made in Japan. Almost all production of the electrics were moved overseas by the late 60's. That's definitely different but like Jeff, not sure if I like it or hate it.
Epiphone has a few usa models.

They're not Firebirds though. They're the John Lennon Sheraton, John Lee Hooker Casino and Paul McCartney Texan. More acoustics may be made here in the US but those two electrics are the only ones right now. And they're not very old either in terms of when they were introduced.
yeah thats not a US guitar. The last US guitars epiphone made where the Spirit, SG special, and the Map guitar and they only made those from roughly 1982-1985
I like firebirds, But Part of what I liked about them was the Mini-buckers. This guitar just looks goofy with the stein trem, and the goofy pickup layout.
I'de like a Non-reverse firebird with fullsize buckers. But it seems sorta wrong to have normal buckers on a normal firebird.
