and have it totally change the way you play amp; what you play?

well, I was playing a mix of hard rock, rockabilly, amp; post punk

then i got the XT live, thinking it'd be cool to have more flavors of distortion, and i wanted a trem amp; volume pedal

and now, thanks to all the weird as hell crap in there, I'm playing like...gothy semi industrial spazz rock, with some grindcore in there

i won't say it's made me a better player cuz that's retarded, but it definately helped my playing stand out more

anyone else have an expirience like this?

These terms make me want to knife the ppl that use them.

Sure have. My Gamp;L Asat Deluxe has me writing alot of blues infected music since I picked it up. When I bought the Soldano, I went on a metal kick for a month!

sorry, that came off more mean than I expected.

Liar

ooh, ouch

but i can't say i used to play rock, but now i play rock

that'd sound pretty dumb

so i tried to be as descriptive as possible

like 4 million!!

I'm not being mean either

remember quot;gaycorequot;? That was awesome.

i see what you mean drew. My BF fender has cleaned up my technique a ton and made my playing much more expressive than before since it reveals more of my nuances. The POD XT will probably make you start playing lots of different stuff.

I play pretty differently with different guitars I've found. That is, if they're pretty drastically different.

Strats(Singlecoils in general) made me realize that output isn't everything.

Please.....God...as long as it stops you from acquiring and mangling the **** out of perfectly good amps......

!

ferraglides. they made me love my number 1 again..

failing that, a delay pedal will *always* turn you into a one-man trance act for a while while you wear the novelty out

tom

One of the fun aspects of gear acquisition is when you come across something that changes the way you approach playing. Sometimes it makes it fun to play a different genre, others it exposes things (often flaws) in your playing you didn't notice before or gives you a sense of control that your old gear didn't provide.
Have fun with it.

yeah......it really sucks when one tries to broaden their horizons.

I had the same experience when I started using a Tele. My whole style changes with the Tele. Hell, even my wife commented on it. I know something changed for her to pay any attention

Dude ...

Semi industrial??
Gothy spazz rock??
Grindcore???

You've piqued my curiousity. What would be an example of this?

For me, my set of 59's probably cemented the fact that I wanted to steer towards bluesy stuff, than anything else.
