Hi gearheads. Thanks for all the great comraderie.

I just grabbed an off-brand bass with a split-p in the neck, and a doubled-up J in the bridge (4 coils in all).

I intend to hard-wire the p-coils in series, and will probably do a series tap on the double-J.

My question: is there a practical limit to how many coils can run in series? I am foreseeing a monstrosity where ALL 4 coils are in series... the coils in series with themselves, and the pickups in series with each other... Mwaaaaa ha haaaa... has this ever been done?

You can run as many as you want in series! The question is, will they sound good? I am not sure. Somehow I think 2 in series will be best but, I havent tried running more than 2 so, I dont know
