lol just a poll for fun post your thoughts as well as why u think one is supierior to the other or if u think btoh guitars are great
SG's for me..... I like LP's too, but I really like the mids and attack an SG has in a band. Plus its lighter than a LP and cheaper. SG's are just the evil twin brother to the LP IMO.
I used to think LP but I think I've grown a bit since personally. Looking back, I think I got caught up in the quot;Gibson LP is the bestquot; tidal wave and barely gave the SG a glance. Looking back, I think that was a mistake.
The SGs I've played are so much lighter and easier on my back, and, though the bridge pup on the SGs are brighter, I've grown to really like that punch over the smoothness and fullness of the Paul. So if I could go back in time, I might tell myself to look a little more closely at the SGs before just settling on a Les because quot;nothing else is even closequot;, which is bull****. I might just sell off my Les for an SG in the near future.
Gibson LP Studio for an Epiphone Elitist SG, whaddya think?

LP for me. SG's just dont feel solid in my hands, too easy make the guitar go sharp or flat just by pushing the neck the wrong way, plus I like the way the LP balances and sounds a whole lot better.
I picked both. If I HAD to chose one, I'd probably pick an LP. Love LP tone, just have trouble with them being pretty heavy.
LPs are heavy, but they just look cooler to me
Any doubt about how I voted?
If a Les Paul is a gentleman wearing a tuxedo, an SG is his younger juvenile delinquent brother with a ducktail and leather jacket.

Yup , and about the only thing I don't like about my Firebird Studio...it not as bad as an SG for this, but the issue is there....
I like both from a tone perspective...The SG and my bird are similar (but the Bird balances well unlike the SG)..it's tight and punchy..a very good quot;dirtyquot; guitar...Les Paul is more versatile, and more complex in tone, but for 100% nasty overdriven rock/metal/heavy blues, absolutely nothing wrong with an SG.
SGs, hmm, every time I go for the high frets I overshoot and am over the humbucker...something about that just doesn't mix well. Whenever I pick up my friends...the neck is just sticking wayyyyy too far to the left, it's like...I grab and it's at the 12th fret and I'm like wtf...whenever I hold one the body rubs against me and it isn't that good rubbing...feeling...
Needless to say I'd much rather have an LP.
Oh yeah, why doesn't the SG have 24 frets...I mean, it's just that POS plastic sitting there doing nothing...
Les Paul, definately. The uber cut away feels weird to me.
I don't care for SG's at all!
LPs are cool, and I'd love to have one, but my SG was my first love and it just plays sooooo well!

Either stop picking up your friends, or revise your technique to keep the neck centered more over your breastbone
slade
I prefdr the les paul. I like playing SG's but they dont feel realy natural to me personally. Maybe its the off balance i feel when i play it (possibly due to the strap button location) and the way the body is soo thin. To me even my strat feels more solid than an sg! The sounds great dont get me wrong, but i just prefer the les paul..no wait i love the les paul!
I've owned both and I love 'em both. I don't currently have an SG. I meant to get one last year, but I accidentally bought another LP instead.
Les Pauls remind me of grandpas...SGs remind me of Satan.
LPs are just a little too classy to me. All arched and flamed and shiney, with all that haevy wood making my back sore and slowing me down...a nice SG just seeths viciousness...that's why all the post-grunge emo-core kids play 'em...

FWIW, I have 2 herniated discs and degenerative disc disease, and Les Pauls don't really bother my back at all
Who is bein the grandpa here?

Yep. I have a couple of wrecked discs too. It's not the Les Pauls, it's the Marshalls.
