It would be great to get input in one place about the experiences people have had with the new line of Eminence speakers. Such as which speaker you've tried in which amp, etc. I wonder how the 'Patriot' line sounds in EL34 Brit voiced amps and vice-versa. Please share!
Freaking love my V12's! They've been replaced with the Wizard, I believe.
Tight bass, great mids, perfect highs, no annoying frequencies like a V30. Very smooth and articulate, matches with my 5150 perfectly.
I'm really happy with my two governors. They really made my TSL come alive. I really like them with my mesa, and I'd love to try some Texas Heats to go with them.
Happy Birthday SoCal.
I have a Governor, a Ramrod, and a Screamin' Eagle. I have heard a Private Jack and a Wizard in person.
The Governor is muchly in the mold of a V30. It is a bit smoother, I think a smidge darker, and lacks that annoying upper-mid spike V30's have. The Wizard is a bit more balanced, a bit brighter, more mid-focused due to the lessened bass. The Private Jack is even brighter than the Wizard, and is a great replacement for a Celestion Greenback.
The Screamin' Eagle is about where the Private Jack is, may be a bit brighter, but with an American flavor, hence the Patriot tag. It is also smoother than the PJ. It worked great for me trying to add some smooth treble to a dark British amp.
There are some parallels her comparing Eminence and Celestion and Duncan and Dimarzio. Duncan's and Dimarzio's don't sound the same even if their eq's and output are close, and really neither do Eminence and Celestion. Overall I find the Eminence speakers smoother than Celestions.
They are a great addition to one's gear options. And at the price they go for new, you can't beat em'.
I'm gettin a couple of pairs of governors and man-o-wars to go in my mesa/boogie cab...I'll let ya know when i get em in there!
I have a pair of Texas Heats in a 78 MusicMan 212HD loaded with 4 EL34/6CA7 tubes and I am loving them. Claen or dirty, with either my Les Paul, or my P90 equipped EPI LPjr they are great sounding speakesr. Plus with my amp able to put out 130w, I don't have to worry about blowing them, due to their high power (150w) rating.
