Hi there,
I've just got hold of a Breed amp; an Evo. I was hoping you guys would help me!!?????

I have a les paul classic (the one with the terrible ceramic 'rock' pickups) which already has a SD Jeff Beck in the bridge.

I am not changing the JB (I would rather stick pin in my testicles). It's a really great bridge pickup.

I was just wondering which of the Diamrzio's should go into the les paul.

It's got to the point where my band has told me not to play with the neck pickup because I moan about it so much! Drummers what do they know about tone!!!!!

I'm not really after a full on sound gt;gt; I'm starting to think I should sel them amp; get a SD Jazz

All help greatly received

For neck pickup i must say breed here. In fact, if you use the combo of JB and Breed, you will be using my new combo that i installed last week

You'd never believe the quality sound of the breed, especially on clean too. It is slightly less output than an evo, but if you had more output the cleans would prolly suck.

Im in love with the damn thing!

Cheers for that Kev,

What type of guitar are you using????

Are those two actually the neck version of those pickups?

Im playing it through a high end RG which is very similar in many ways to a JEM.

Whilst on the subject, i was still thinking of ripping the JB out and sticking in a Dimarzio Evo, but i've been told that there isnt an enormous diffwerence and the evo wont be very good for rythms, its just a very very tight lead pup with lots of output.

I really like the JB in my les paul (looks cool in zebra) - sounds awesome

I'm just thinking the evo is going to be too muddy in the neck position of my les paul?

I used to be an Ibanez maniac gt; but just moved onto a les paul

(just had a brainwave of a les paul with a jem neck??)

The difference the amount of mahogany makes on the les paul just makes some pickups sound cack

I did actually try a fred in the neck (big big mistake) I ended up putting the horrible ceramic back in!!!

Any advice is appreciate guys gt; I could always ebay the two Dimarzio's if need be??

hmmm. Im not really a LP expert as ive never owned one. Played many tho, and obviously the sound is pretty warm/dark. Perhaps you need a bright neck pickup, and in my experience, i should say that the breed is pretty bright

I'll give it a go with the Breed gt; I just think the Evo's are going to be too modern sounding for the Gibson for some reason

cool Good luck... and good luck in the champions league final on wednesday

Can't wait gt; decent fa cup final as well gt;gt; man u were robbed though

see an LFC fan can be sensible!!!!

Evo in the neck position. It will give you a ripping lead tone. If you're playing technical lead lines (sounds like you are) the Evo will serve you much better than the Breed.

Yes, I've tried both pups in the same guitar. (Jem)

How ripping ???

Mr Vai type or Mr Beck???

Think Vai, Petrucci, Gilbert ...

I'm still thinking the breed is going to be a better option gt; I don't really play any of that stuff anymore ( other than warm up)

Sad but true!!

It may sound good, but my intuition says that a LP with a JB Breed will not sound good. Keep us posted!

I'm very tempted to ebay off the dimarzio amp; just get something like a jazz or seth lover in the neck?

You realize that the Evo is a ceramic pickup, right?

I know fella,

It will sound cack wont it!

Anyone interested in ebay sale????!!!!!

I think the breed is a winner!!!!
