Its a historic reissue ....with an old maestro trem ..and P90s too..they were made way back when Grover Jackson was just a gleam in his daddys eye, Davey

Wow, I sure hope that's sarcasm.

Anyway, that would definitely be a sweet guitar. I don't much care for the finish though: most TV Yellows I've seen were brighter. This one is the same colour as my poo after I eat Indian food.

i do not mind the p-90's .. i mind the butt ugly trem, the fact that gibson never changed the neck heel and the piss yellow color

ratherdashing, no. it wasnt a sarcastic reply. it is how i feel about it.. scuse me for lots of stars though.. been a rather hectic day and didnt trash the guitar enough today lol

I'm with Davey on this one, not so much with the trem because I'm not a Floyd guy anyway, but that color doesn't do it for me and I've never understood Gibson's refusal to quot;playerizequot; the neck joint.

I've never been an SG fan. To me they will always be Gibson's attempt at the contours and ergonomics of a Strat, only to miss by a few thousand miles.

Having said that, that is a beautiful looking guitar. Not sure why but there's something about it that trips my trigger.

i like sg's but that thing is hideous

I kind of like SG's. I still have one that I bought new in '68 or '69. Its a great guitar, but I think the Firebird was Gibson's attempt at Copping a Strat not the SG. They are both similar in some respects. Both are awkward to play (headstock heavy) Espicially the Firebirds. My SG has Grover replacement tuners and that made it worse, but I fixed it by using a good strap. The Firebird with the Banjo tuners is damn near impossible to balance. It is also why a lot of them have had broken headstocks! Great sounding guitars.... just hard to play.

put a quot;pile'o'skullsquot; paint job on it and Davey would have a hardon for it

Yep...thats why I wont play an SG. I just never could get used to that feel.

Firebird Studio cured that prob. Balances great for me, though I do tend to play quot;neck highquot; like Michael Schenker with it (which actually is quite comfy)

I've been wanting a custom bird..neck through...but it will have the the studio style stock amp; tuners...

Basically like this HERE

not really .. there would still be the trem and heel issue

Here ya go Davey..here's how I like my Jacksons...purrrdy

And this is pretty cool too tho not a jackson Clicky

i think its gorgeous even though it hasnt been METALiZZZed!!!1

I played that same model but in cherry red and also played one of the 61 RIs in TV yellow with humbuckers. and they were both godly

awesome

What I wouldn't give for that...

I've got mixed emotions about the guitar. The Korina finish is cool, as are the P90s. But that trem ... I mean I never played one but they don't inspire much confidence in me. And the guitar looks a tad cluttered to me: the pups, the pickguard, the trem arm, the knobs ... just a matter of visual appeal, sorry, but that's the way I feel.
And as for the historical reissue thing: I prefer modern models with improvements over the past designs. The neck joint ... nowadays SGs have a smoother, quot;seamlessquot; neck joint that - for some reason - I believe is strongar than this. And the bridge - well this one may be historically correct but c'mon, it's a wrap-around unit. What about a TOM with rollers?
Also, I believe the modern neck joint would allow placing the neck pup closer to the neck for a fatter tone.

Don't get me wrong, this may be a wonderful guitar, just not for me

Wow... This is the 1st time I've ever had gas for an SG.

That's probably the best looking/nicest featured SG I've ever seen.
